Daisy shivered briefly as the fierce wind whipped through her shoulder length autumn colored hair.

Luke noticed. He seemed to notice everything, and he stopped playing his guitar, setting it aside, and he pulled off his jacket and draped it over Daisy's narrow shoulders.

"Won't you be cold?" She whispered, her voice shaky and attentive. She looked up, her eyes meeting Luke's.

Luke's eyes hadn't left Daisy's face since she had made her presence acknowledged. "I like the cold." He stated simply, a loose smile tugging at the ends of his lips.

"Can I ask you something?" Daisy dropped her gaze to her hands, pulling on the grass that was slightly wet with dew.

Luke watched as she did so, feeling an impulse to grab her hand away from the grass.

"Depends.. what it is?" He murmured quietly.

Daisy bit her lip, running her tongue across the pink skin of it and she kept her eyes on her hands.

"Why does it seem like you hate me one minute, but then the next you don't?"

The question caused Luke to lift his eyes from the ground and again, lock them on Daisy's face. Daisy shivered, chills running down her spin and she pulled the jacket closer, smelling a strong scent of the hospital soap and Luke's distinctive aroma.

"I was there.." Luke whispered. It hadn't made much sense at all to Daisy, who furrowed her brow and gave Luke an odd expression.

"I'm sorry?"

"When you almost jumped off the bridge..I saw and shouted out the window." Luke bit his lip nervously, his skin drained off all color.

"Don't jump. Please don't."

"It was you?" Daisy gasped, her eyes widening as she recalled a pleading voice yell at her.

Luke nodded his head slowly and his eyes stayed on Daisy's face as she stared opened mouth at the grass.

"I thought you did it. I thought you jumped." Luke began. "When you came here and I saw you that first day I was honestly shocked. How could someone so beautiful and young be in so much pain they would end their own life?" Luke choked out, his eyes meeting Daisy's.

Her heart was pounding and she bit her trembling lip, not even feeling cold anymore. Daisy had wished her eyes would stop stinging but she herself was in just as much shock as Luke.

"Luke?" Daisy whispered, her voice almost silent as she took his hand. "Why are you here?"

Luke's eyes locked with Daisy's, the eye contact wasn't broken as Luke whispered into the chilly air, "I almost suceeded with killing myself."

That morning things were different and everyone noticed. Although they weren't going to say anything, they knew.

Daisy sat beside Luke, playing with her food as Luke just stayed silent.

Ashton would awkwardly try to get the two to talk to everyone else, but they'd just smile for a brief moment and return to their everlasting silence.

Daisy squeezed Luke's hand under the table and when no one was looking he'd smile softly at her.

When breakfast ended Daisy walked with Olivia, watching Luke's tall and lean body stride beside the other lengthy boys and she felt her lips pull into a smile.

"What's this all about?" Olivia asked, meaning between Daisy and Luke.

Daisy shrugged and grinned for a short second. "It's a really long story, and also we're disinfecting my bed tonight, thank you very much."

Olivia blushed, her cheeks turning bright. "How do you even know that we did anything?"

Daisy thought back to earlier in the morning, remembering how a tech was telling the Doctor about things he really shouldn't have known, but brushed the memory away.

"I just do." Daisy mumbled, shrugging yet again.

"Hello everyone, today we're doing something different, we're playing the positive thinking game!" Doctor Brooks smiled sweetly as a nurse handed him a mug of coffee and he crossed his leg over the other, taking a sip before continuing.

Daisy took a seat beside Olivia, the guys on either side of both of them.

Calum smiled at Daisy and listened as Doctor Brooks continued.

"Each one of us will tell everyone in this room something kind about them, and then themselves."

The game seemed like it was designed for elementary school students, not people who were almost adults.

"Lets start with you, Mary." The Doctor said aloud, causing Mary to chew on the ends of her hair, glancing around as everyone paid attention to her.

Mary had multiple personality disorder and even hit on Daisy the other day when she was "Craig" a truck driver from Illinois.

She said abnormal things about everyone, like how she liked the way they swallowed their applesauce during lunch, which she probably thought was being kind.

Everyone slowly got their turn at what Doctor Brooks likes to call the "positivity current", and when it got to Calum he mentioned how Olivia was extremely funny and confident, Michael was a good listener, Ashton always made him feel better when he was sad, Luke makes him feel comfortable and that Daisy was beautiful.

Daisy seemed to be hearing she was "beautiful" a lot lately, and each time was never different, besides when Luke told her. She smiled appreciatively at Calum.

Calum concluded that he is a happy person and that he likes helping others.

Daisy went in a circle as she complimented everyone, starting with Olivia and she said, "You're perfect and so beautiful." Daisy complimented Mary next by saying she had cool hair. After that was crazy Phil who was always hollering about seeing faries chasing after him. After that was Breanna, the institutes slut, then Lennie, Anna, Jose, Alicia, Carson, and finally after a few others she got to the people she loved most here.

"Michael, I love your hair, it's rad. Ashton, your laugh is the best. Luke, thank you so much, you have no idea how much you've done for me. Cal, thank you for being my best friend, I've never had a best friend before." Daisy smiled as the four boys gave her loving smiles, Luke smiling to himself as he looked at the floor at his tapping feet. "And finally, Daisy, thank you for not ending your life that night."

Luke looked up, his eyes shining and Daisy met his eyes, mouthing "thank you" one last time.

Nothing changed, but Daisy had, and although no one seemed to notice, Doctor Brooks had. He smiled wickedly to himself.
