It's half way into the school day and Betty can tell that there's something up with Jughead. When he walked past her and Archie in the hallway this morning he didn't even make eye contact, let alone smile or say hi. She worries because he's rarely like this. Despite their contrasting personalities, they rarely fight, but when they do, it never ends well. Jughead has somewhat of an unprecedented temper when he's angry, so if he is mad she just wants to be able to talk it through with him before things get out of control.

Betty is torn out of her thoughts by a stone faced Jughead walking towards her and the rest of her friends at their lunch table. As he approaches the table and slams his books down  next to Betty, they all eye him cautiously as if he was going to break at any moment. He looks up to find them all staring at him and snarls, "Take a picture It'll last longer.". "Juggie what's wrong", Betty says, "Do you want to talk about it?". Jughead looks up from the book he is aggressively turning the pages of to meet Betty's eyes. His eyes, however, seem to have this flame ignited in them which frightened Betty to an extent. " You know what?", he states as he throws his book down, " Why would I talk about it? You wouldn't understand anything I'm going through even if you tried. You're "Betty Cooper", the good girl, the perfect, straight A student. What's the point of trying to talk to someone who is the exact opposite of me." As he finishes his speech, he stands up from the table, aggressively shoves in his chair, and storms away. At this point Betty is in tears as Veronica is hugging her and wiping away her tears. "Betty I know Jug is being a total jerk right now but when he gets like this he just needs to cool off, trust me. Don't take what he said personally, he was just taking his anger out on you", Archie says. " I know, and I know I shouldn't take it personally because this is just how he is.", she says while wiping her tearstained face, " But what if he's right about us being too different, I don't know." They all look at her with concerned expressions as Veronica pipes up and states, " C'mon B, it's you and Jughead. You're meant to be and everybody knows it. Just talk to him and I'm sure you two will work everything out, but if not I can totally knock some sense into him for you." Betty makes a sad smile and forces a laugh, "Yeah you're probably right, well I should get going, see you guys later.", she expresses with a sigh.

(time skip)
It's later that day and Betty is on her bed doing her homework, willing herself to stop thinking about Jughead. She knew Archie was right and that she needed to give him time to cool off, but she wanted more than anything to talk to him and to resolve this problem. He is her best friend and she hates when he's mad or upset. As she thinks about this she chuckles because she finds herself shedding a few tears, along with the countless others she's shed today. As she wipes her eyes she hears a faint knock on her window and abruptly looks up. She sees a familiar scene. A red-faced Jughead holding a singular pink rose as he stands at the top of a ladder leading to her window. She makes her way over to the window with an emotionless expression and slowly opens it. She silently motions for him to come in and he cautiously climbs through the open window, into her bedroom. After a few moments Jughead is the first to speak, " Bets I am so sorry. None of what I said to you was in the least bit true", he says sorrowfully as he slides off beanie into his hands. Betty keeps he's gaze fixated on the floor as she leans against her bedroom wall. He slowly walks closer to her and in a strained voice chokes out, " Betty please, look at me". She looks up to meet the eyes of a puffy eyed boy who looks as though he could cry at any moment. She hated seeing him so vulnerable and powerless. She delicately took the rose from Jughead's grasp and began to admire it's beauty. He continues, " I know I don't have the best temper, but I know that I need to talk it out instead of shutting you out," he says shakily, " I'm sorry", he whispers while a few tears slip out, and he hangs his head looking at the floor. Betty carefully places the rose on her dresser and takes Jughead's face in her hands. She gently wipes his tears and places a delicate kiss to his cheek. " I just need you to talk to me instead of letting your anger out on me. I hate seeing you like this, Jug." She says lovingly as she caresses his face," I forgive you." Jughead looks up and moves a strand of hair behind her ear keeping his hand on her cheek, looking slightly less disheveled than before. "I love you Betty Cooper, never change." he whispers while their foreheads are resting against each other's and their eyes are closed. " I love you, Jughead Jones." She answers back, hugging him, placing her head in his warm chest , as he softly strokes her hair.
