It's 1:45 am. Betty and Jughead are sleeping soundly, her head in his chest, as his arms are wrapped around her almost too tight, but she found it sweet that he always wanted her as close as possible to him. She awakes abruptly to a loud ringing of her phone. She groggily looks around but finds it difficult to get free from a shirtless Jughead clinging onto her, with his legs wrapped around hers. She takes a moment to admire how peaceful he looks while he sleeps and gets lost in his features as she moves a stray piece of hair from his eyes. She is immediately shaken back into reality as she hears the ringing yet again, so she wiggles out of Jughead's firm grasp and reaches for her phone on her dresser. The caller ID is unknown, but she decides to answer it anyway.

At this point Jughead is slowly realizing that Betty has sat up because he no longer has a body to cuddle, so he sits up and begins to speak in a raspy tired voice, "Bets who are you-". Only to be interrupted by a harsh "Shh" coming from Betty. He lays back down realizing her serious appearance and decides it best to stay quiet until she gets off the phone, but that doesn't stop him from tracing his finger tips over her legs in a calming way, in which she doesn't protest. After 2 minutes of nodding and listening she begins to speak to this anonymous caller, "Thank you for letting me know, I appreciate it." , and at that she hangs up and places her phone back on the nightstand with an emotionless expression.

Jughead sits up and tries again to ask her in a playful tone, "Do you mind telling me who was calling you at 2 in the damn morning". When she stays silent, biting her lip and looking down he lifts her chin up to meet his gaze. After a moment of Jughead trying to read her impossible expression she begins to give in. Her eyes start to water and her lip is trembling, as she finally leans forward to collapse into Jughead's chest. "Hey, hey", he says concerned as he begins to soothingly rub her back, " What is it? What happened?". She looks up at him and once she calms down enough to talk she starts, " It's my grandma Jug. I just got a call saying that she had a heartattack and died, out of nowhere. I feel so guilty, I haven't called her or anything in months. I should've made more of an effort, but now it's too late." , she says as she begins to sob again. "Betty, there was nothing you could've done. And it's okay to be upset and to feel sad but you shouldn't feel guilty", he says as he strokes her wavy blonde hair. "You have a busy life, but she knows that you love her even though you don't talk all the time, Bets. I promise you she knows that." She continues crying as Jughead whispers "I love yous" in her ear, until he finally feels her breathing even out and her heart rate slow. He keeps her cradled in his arms, in fear of waking her if her moves her in even the slightest. He continues stroking her hair, wishing he could somehow take her pain away. He places a delicate kiss on her forehead whispering a simple "I love you" into her strawberry scented hair.
