Lars sat in a gem-shaped hole in the Kindergarten as were the rest of the gems minus Fluorite, who was too big to fit in any hole so she simply sprawled out and kept watch when she wasn't sleeping. Lars had already made himself at hopefully temporary home after Steven brought him his belongings and other various items for entertainment.

Yesterday(or at least what Steven told him was yesterday since he lost track of time), Steven told him that he was going to show Sadie how to visit Lars, so he couldn't be more happy for her company. He tried to be strong in this situation, but the darkness and occasional silence scared him.

It's okay to be afraid...

Lars felt a glowing sensation and saw Sadie jump off his head and land in front of him. Before he could speak, Sadie ran into his arms and hugged him really tight. Lars could sense her sadness, her excitement, and he held her just as tightly. Back on Earth their relationship was really complicated, and it was in this moment that he realized that he took her for granted. At least back on Earth they could bicker and make up.

But now he was in a situation where he was no longer on Earth, and that he had a really great life going for him till he cowardly ran away from the Topaz soldier. Maybe Sadie shouldn't be hugging him right now, why wasn't she upset at him?

"Steven told me that you....you died." Sadie broke the silence with sadness in her voice. "If Steven wasn't there...you would've stayed dead. And he told me you're like Lion now."

"Yeah...I've really missed you. And I'm sorry that I didn't save you. I was a real co-"

Sadie pulled her face out of Lars' chest and kissed his lips softly, and with that kiss Lars knew that not only was she not mad, but she missed him too.

"You were so brave for fighting with Steven, and noble for sacrificing your own life. You're not a coward, you're my hero as much as you're Steven's." Sadie smiled as she planted a kiss on his pink cheek. "I brought you some donuts back from the Big Donut, want me to fill you in on what's going on back at home while we eat?"

"Yeah, that'd be great." Lars smiled and even though he no longer needed to eat, he was glad to eat and talk with the girl he loved.

Apparently Steven and Connie were an actual item now after his love confession, and the Big Donut hired more people so Sadie wouldn't be working by herself. Lars was relieved that Sadie had a lot more help, And she told him that she'd start spending most of her free time with him. It was certainly more than he thought he'd get.

And this time, he wouldn't dare take her company for granted. Not ever again.
