Kingdom Hearts (Fan Fiction): Lost Love

Chapter 2

   'What is this thing I hold in my hand? It looks like a giant key,' I think to myself, trying not to trip over my feet. Finally I hit a dead end and turn to see the shadow being from my dreams glooming intently in front of me. I raise the giant key over my head to use it as a weapon but it dissapears and I am left defenceless. The giants hand comes down and I am enveloped in darkness once more.

   I wake up with a scream. I hold the covers close and look at my reflection in the mirror across from my bed. My green eyes stare back at me, wild and scared looking. My long light brown hair sits messily in all directions. Suddenly I hear a clap of thunder. "Oh no!" I say to myself. I think of our little raft we spent so much time making and hop out of the bed.

   I hurriedly slide off my pajama bottoms and top then slip on a pair of jeans and a tight green tank top. I dig around a pile of cloths until I find my light green jacket and slip it on too. After careful consideration, I pull my hood up and climb out of my window instead of going out the door. I carefully tiptoe under my parents window and break into a run as soon as im out of the range of their hearing.

   I reach the bank of the beach and head for a small boat. Three of them are missing. I think of my three friends right away and hurrily climb in. I grab the oars and start to row. Its only a short distance from our home to our little island. I slowly climb out of the boat so I won't slip and fall into the water. I break into a run and glance at the cliff where our little lopsided tree awaits.

   I see Sora and Riku standing there and I head in that direction. When I finally reach the top of the cliff, I stop. Something doesn't feel right. I look up to see a giant storm cloud above us. I walk over to where Sora stands, because he is closer to me than Riku. "What's going on?" I ask them.

   "This is it! This is what we have been waiting for!" Riku yells over a clap of thunder.

   "What are you talking about Riku?" Sora asks him.

   "Come with me Sora and Mikan!" Riku holds out his hands to us. I go to grasp the hand closest to me and am suddenly surrounded by shadows. I scream and jerk my hand back as a sliver of shadow comes to close to my hand.

  "Remember Mikan! I won't let the darkness hurt you!" Riku yells to me. I reach out again for his outstreched hand, but I cant quite reach it. I try to step forward, but the darkness has surrounded my feet and it begans to travel up my body, keeping me from moving. I glance over at Sora and see that he is having the same problem.

  "Riku!" I cry out as I am fully engulfed in the swirling shadows. I'm still reaching out when the shadows dissapear from around me. I look over and see Sora doing the same.

  "Where's Riku?" Sora asks me. I look around, but he is no where to be seen. I shrug my shoulders, hiding my sadness and fear.

  "What about Kairi?" I ask him.

  "I don't know.." he tells me.

  I look up just in time to see the giants hand coming towards us. I push Sora out of the way and jump in the other direction. "I've seen that in my dreams," Sora whispers. I look at him in disbelief.

  "I have too," i tell him. He looks at me in surprise. I look away just in time to see the giant shadow getting ready for another attack. I hold out my hand, hoping that I can somehow summon the giant key from my dreams. Suddenly a bright light evelopes my hand and the key appears. I glance over to see Sora's reaction, but he is holding one too.

  He looks at me and I nod, knowing he's trying to tell me without words that we must fight this thing. We both jump up and use the skills we have learned from fighting each other. I jump up on top of its head as it bends down to try and hit me with its powerful hand. I start swinging, hoping the giant key will do something to hurt this beast. Just as I am thrown off, I see Sora land the finishing move. As the creature dissapears into a whisp of shadowy smoke, I am once again enveloped in darkness. 

I find myself in a small cave with a light eminating from a wall at the end of it. Sora is standing there talking  to a man with silver hair. Sora looks back at me and then my vision blurs and I pass out.
