I opened my eyes to see a small orange dog breathing in my face. I glanced over to see Sora sitting beside me, unconscious. I looked around, trying to figure out what had happened those last few moments with RIku.
Riku. When I think about him, my eyes tear up and I rub at them. 'I can't cry now,' I think to myself. I lean over to shake Sora awake, but while I've been lost in my thoughts, he has already awoken. He sits there, staring at me, waiting. "Where are we?" I ask him.
"I don't know. But I think we need to look around," he tells me. I nod and begin to stand up when the dog's ears rise and he hightails it out of my line of sight. "Oh well," I say as I brush the dirt from my cloths. "Looks like our new friend had somewhere else to be." I look at Sora and then we both start walking in the direction the dog went.
As we turn the corner, something small and dark appears in front of us. I summon my giant key just in time to ward off a bunch of small shadow creatures that look like bugs. Sora finishes them off and we start to walk away. More appear in front of us and block our path. Suddenly, a man with long dark brown hair moves out of the shadows and takes them all out with one hit. He carries a long sword about as thick as his arms are.
"Give me the keyblade," he tells Sora. We look at him in confusion and he turns his gaze towards me. His expression changes from angry to surprised as he looks at the giant key in my hand. "There are two of them?" he asks. We just stare. His expression changes back to anger. "Give me the keyblades. As long as you have those keyblades, the heartless will never stop," he tells us.
Suddenly I understand and hold the giant key close. I look at Sora but he still looks confused. "He's talking about the giant keys Sora!" I yell at him. A look of comprehension touches his face and he holds his close too.
"No way. You can't have them," he tells the man.
"Then I will have to take them from you," he tells us. We have only a moment before he attacks. He goes for Sora first and I take the chance to jump him from behind. He turns at the last second and blocks my attack. He knocks me backwards and my head hits the ground hard. I look up, fireworks dancing across my eyesight. Just before I pass out I see Sora fall before the tall man.
I wake up to Sora's voice. "Kairi?" he questions. I look up to see a strange girl with short black hair standing over Sora. She does remind me of Kairi, but I still wonder if Sora bumped his head a little to hard. I sit up slowly and stare quietly at the girl.
"Who's Kairi? I'm the great ninja Yuffie," she tells Sora. "I think you over done it a little, Squall."
"That's Leon," the man who attacked us walks up carrying our keblades.
"Sorry. We had to get it away from you to shake off those creatures. It turns out, thats how they were tracking you guys," Yuffie tells us.
"It was the only way we could conceal your hearts from them, but it won't work for long. It's really hard to believe you two are the chosen ones," Leon says. He slings one of the keyblades out and the both dissapear and reappear in our hands.
"What's going on here?" Sora asks.
Yuffie and Leon go into an explanation about how our worlds were now connected by the heartless. I look at them like they'er both crazy.
"Those without hearts. Thats what we call the heartless," Leon tells me.
"The darkness in peoples hearts are what attracks them," Yuffie says.
"And there is darkness within every heart," Leon finishes. "The heartless have great fear of the keyblade. Thats why they will never stop coming after you two."
