 I hope you noticed the new story cover, took me almost 4 hours to do that!!! Well, enjoy this chapter!

~~~~~
Jumping out of bed, I winced as my bare feet made a loud noise. My head snapped towards the door hoping that no one woke up. I waited for a moment and sighed in relief as I heard my parents snores. Grinning, I quietly walked towards the door, not wanting to risk them waking up.
Ninjas are light sleepers. Or so I've heard.
After my birthday, 5 in body-20 in mind, I've been talking to Itachi more. After the whole ordeal with the christmas present from him, I've noticed that we're much closer than before. Only recently, Itachi told me about the fireflies that came out at night. He offered to take me somewhere where we can see them. The description he gave me was amazing and he's brought Sasuke there a few times.
Surprised Sasuke hasn't told me, thought he'd be bragging about hanging out with his beloved Itachi.
Even if he described it, he didn't told me where we were going but he just said to wait for him around 12 am and he would come for me. A little risky but danger is my middle name!
....Do they even have middle names here?
All this leads up to what I'm doing right now. It wasn't cold so I didn't take a sweater but had my night dress on with my slippers.
I crept down the stairs, easily skipping the bottom step that I knew made a loud creak. I closed the door lightly after me with a small click. Quickly jumping down the steps I looked toward the trees to my left as I heard a rustle in one of the branches and saw a glimpse of a white mask before it disappeared. While keeping my eye on the tree, I leaned against the wall and crossed my arms as I waited for Itachi. Not even 5 minutes later Itachi appeared in a swirl of leaves. I spared him a glance and went back to looking at the tree while I greeted him.
"Something interesting in the tree, Mayu-chan?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Earlier, as I was leaving, I saw something white before it was gone."
He nodded but said nothing. The silence irked me but let the subject drop. I pushed myself off the wall and smiled as he offered his hand. I took the time to noticed he was wearing casual clothes. The high collared shirt that most Uchihas wear and sandy colored shorts, and of course his ever present ninja sandals.
What I expected was from him to start walking but as our hands touched he swiftly pulled me onto his back and with a quick 'hold on' he jumped up onto the roof. I held in my squeak and gripped onto his neck, careful to not choke him. I felt the wind rushing past us as he jumped over rooftops.
I peeked at Itachi's face to see him with a small smile and ducked back down.
The running lasted for a while until Itachi finally jumped down into some trees.
"Just walking from here." His grip loosened on my legs and I jumped down from his back. I took hold of my balance as the sudden rush made my legs all wobbly.
I grinned and started walking with Itachi lagging behind a couple of feet. Every now and then I would glance back to see Itachi to see him staring intently at me. Was he staring at my butt? I felt my eye twitch and attempted to hide my butt, which was very awkward because it hindered my walking ability.
Imagine an awkward duck walking like it's been needing to go poop for 7 hours.
That's what I looked like, and even Itachi noticed my strange behavior. Well, there goes trying to be normal.
"Why are you walking like that?" I stopped and waited for him to catch up.
"I...just had an itch." To prove my point I bent over and scratched my thigh.
He eyed me warily, "Then why didn't you scratch it in the beginning?"
I pursed my lips and turned on my heel and kept on walking. I blushed when I heard him chuckle. So embarrassing.
Since I'm the one in the lead, I wonder if I'm even heading the right way. Since he never mentioned anything, I assume I was going in the right direction. I was never good with directions, I usually just memorized certain places that was needed in daily life.
As we headed deeper into the woods, the stars became even brighter. You can see millions of tiny stars without the village lights to hide them.
My walking slowed down as I stared up at the stars in awe. Back before I...died, I've never seen stars like these before. The city was too bright, only a few constellations showed occasionally in winter. It was really pretty, the dark blue sky was filled to the brim, covering every inch with stars of every size.
With my stargazing, Itachi caught up with my slow stride and was now to my left. His elbow constantly brushed my shoulder with every step. I inched toward him and cuddled his arm. I sighed at the warmth and instantly regretted not bringing a jacket. I was glad Itachi was my personal heater for the moment. Itachi slipped his arm out of my grip and pulled me closer by my shoulders. Mmm, even warmer.
I noticed some moving lights up ahead and smiled in anticipation.
"Is that it?"
I felt the shifting in his shoulders as he nodded. I grinned as we neared a river with tall grass and floating lights.
I giggled and pulled away from him and walked faster. He chuckled and easily kept up with my pace.
I quietly gasped at the sight before me. A silent stream was surrounded by lush green grass and a tall canopy of trees. The thing that was most captivating was the fireflies flittering in the air. I shuffled forward and sat down with my legs tucked under. I smiled at the soft touch of fireflies as they drifted by and brushed against my arms. I heard the footsteps of Itachi as he stood by my side. Looking up at him, I patted the grass beside me and snuggled closer to him when he sat down.
"Thank you, Itachi."
Itachi stayed silent but held me closer.
