"I got it!" Before mom could come down stairs, I hopped up from the couch and yanked the door open. A blonde blur encased me and I fell onto the ground, someone hugging me so tightly. I couldn't move my head but I could recognize the blonde hair any day.
"Naruto? When did you get back?"
I wrapped my arms around him in a hug when he didn't respond.
I counted almost a minute of hugging before he pulled away. He looked fine, the only thing different was his droopy eyes. I placed my hand on his cheek, my thumb pulling the corner of his eyes, studying his eyes.
"You haven't been getting sleep." He blinked a bit and I let my hand drop. A grin popped up on his face before dropping in a split second. His eyes watered and I stared in shock.
Tears streamed down his face, his mouth scrunching up into an ugly grimace.
"Hey...what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"Y-you're gonna hate me!" He bowed his head, hands reaching up, rubbing away the tears. Snot began to drip down.
I quickly tried to reassure him, "No! Whatever it is, I won't!"
I gulped. "Did you kill someone...?"
He paused, pain in his eyes, then more tears came.
He reached outward and fisted my robe, leaning his head against my shoulder, rubbing his face into it. I let my hand rest on his head and ran my fingers though his hair, trying to give him some comfort.
"Hey...the only thing I'll hate you for is getting snot all over my happi." He let out a short laugh in between his sobs.
I sighed and wrapped my arms around him, "You're such an ugly crier. I swear, Sasuke won't marry you when he finds out you cry like this."
He didn't reply back to my jab at his nonexistent gay love life.
We sat in the open doorway for an uncomfortable amount of time. I felt horrible for him but my butt was aching and my thighs already lost feeling a while ago from Naruto's weight.
I was surprised mom didn't come down stairs to see what was going on. But knowing her, she probably did it very sneakily and left us alone.
I just kept watch on the front yard, slowly stroking Naruto's head, letting my nails scratch his scalp.
