Lily Blossom woke up in her and Iris's quarters on the train. For a moment, she was confused. There seemed to be nothing that would have woken her. The train was running smoothly. The sun, while up and shinning bright, seemed to have risen quite a while ago. She couldn't recall any nightmares in the night.
Was it possible she just woke up on her own? Lily had almost forgotten that it was possible. All throughout their stay in Manehattan, Lily was used to waking up due to the noises of the city or bright lights passing by the window. She turned to where Iris was tucked in last night.
Iris was still sound asleep. She was facing away from Lily, completely curled up under her blanket. Lily sighed. It was so strange to see the wild, energetic child in such a calm and still state. Even now, after so many instances where Lily was awake as Iris slept, the sight was an odd one.
Lily looked out the window. She saw the city of Canterlot rising from the distance. She should wake up Iris before the train stops there. They just might get some breakfast before getting rushed by any new passengers. Lily walked over to where Iris was sleeping. "Iris," she spoke, gently shaking the young filly. "Come on, let's go get some breakfast."

Ironblood woke up before his older brother, because of course he'd still be sleeping after going three days without it. Ironblood took the opportunity to get all of the stuff they needed was packed up. He packed his armor and weapons in a crate, careful not to wake Steeltrix with any loud noises.
He filled a bag with some miscellaneous items. Flint and steel, as he learned to always carry from many cold nights in the woods. A few snacks and rations, because who knows whether or not the train food is any good. A camera, because he was gonna be taking pictures, you better believe it. A map of the surrounding area and a bed roll, because damnit if they weren't gonna go camping with at least one new friend.
Once his things were all settled, Ironblood checked to see if Steeltrix was awake. He wasn't. The older brother was still snoozing away in his bed. Ironblood checked the clock. They had a few hours before their train departed.
Rather than just sit around a wait for him to wake up, Ironblood decided to check if his brother had his things all packed. Supposedly, Steeltrix had already packed almost a week ago, but Ironblood doubted it was beyond the "bare necessities." Steeltrix's armor and weapons were already tucked neatly into a crate. He had a another crate with a mini-forge and forging tools.
Ironblood was half tempted to make sure the crate stayed behind. No way was he gonna let Steeltrix spend another three days straight just forging. Instead, he decided to take the crate with, and just hide the tools if Steeltrix forged for too long. He wouldn't take almost anything out from what his brother had so neatly packed, but that didn't mean he wouldn't add in a few things.
The bag Steeltrix had pack was noless what he would have expected. A few weeks worth of rations (as if they would need that many). A bed roll. Flint and steel. A whetstone (Ironblood went back and packed one into his own bag). A map and a banner.
Ironblood frowned. No books. No pictures. What did he plan to do during the train ride? Sharpen some knives? Scratch that, Ironblood probably would do that, too. He needed to add something to his brother's bag. ANYTHING that wasn't battle related.
Ironblood looked around the room for something he could add. Something on the shelf caught his eye. Perfect! He quickly grabbed it and put it in. He removed some of the rations from the bag before closing it up. Now, there was just one thing left to do.
Ironblood slowly made his way to the crate with his armor. How much should he wear? None would be best, but...he had to have at least something. He decided to pull out one pair of boots. That wasn't too much, right? He went over the crate with Steeltrix's armor.
His brother was probably gonna need a little more. First, Ironblood took out a pair of boots, then went over the other pieces to find something that wasn't too excessive. Helmet? Way too much. Chestplate? No. Chainmail? Sure, why not. Shoulder pads? Maybe.
There was a knock at the door. Ironblood quickly put the few armor pieces aside and put the lid on the crate. He turn to see if his brother woke up. Steeltrix turned over in his sleep, but didn't wake. Ironblood breathed a sigh and went to see who was at the door.
It was Flash Century, his cool, confident smile present as ever. He was accompanied by another guard by the name of Night Eyes. "We're here to bring your stuff to the train," Flash explained.
Ironblood nodded, and whispered, "Just be careful not to wake sleeping beauty over there." The two guards entered the room cautiously. Ironblood watched them take the crates out of the room and down the hall. Ironblood waited for them to turn a corner, then turn to where Steeltrix was still asleep.
"Well, I'd hate to wake him up..," he commented, lifting up one of Steeltrix's boots, "but we've got places to be!" He threw the boot at his brother's sleeping form.
Steeltrix shot up in the bed, wiggling out of the tangled blanket. He looked at the thrown boot, momentarily confused. "Wha-"
"Rise and shine, Bro! It time to get going!"
"Where's my armor?"
"It's right over there!"
"Where's the rest of it?"
Ironblood quickly put on his boots. "No time for that now!"
"IRONBLOOD!"
