I look at myself in the mirror, and take a deep breath. I can do this.
The doorbell rings, and I peer back at myself to admire my full-length reflection.
Ally told me to dress casual, and so I am wearing an off the shoulder crop top with a pair of distressed jeans and black heels.
I run over to the door, scooping up my purse from it's position on the counter.
I open the door, and am met with the sight of a beautiful Ally. She sports a plunging floral romper, which spreads across her tiny torso like an over-sized dress.
"Y/N." She acknowledges, and pulls me in for a hug.
It is awkward, and the two of us know it takes time for both of us to warm up with each other. Ally told me she's never dated a girl before, and that she feels different about it, which I understand.
"So," Ally stands up straight, her brownish-blonde hair falling down past both of her shoulders.
I look at her nervously, playing with my fingers. "Sorry." I mutter.
She shakes her head, "No. I'm sorry. I've never done this before." She ruffles her hair sheepishly.
I give her a weak smile, and decide it was only proper if I asked her to come inside.
"Do you want to come in?" I ask hopefully, so we can settle the tension.
Her eyes widen, and she replies, "No, no! I mean, I'd love to come in, but I have something planned for you. I thought it would be a good idea, but now that it's come to the moment, I'm sort of... nervous."
I give Ally a reassuring smile, and nod. "Me, too."
"I guess if we're on the same page," Ally shrugs, "Let's go."
I giggle, and grip my purse with one hand, closing the door to my apartment behind me.
We walk towards the elevator in silence, and once we're in it, I lean against the metal railing and wrap my hands around it. I poke around at it, leaving metallic vibrations ringing throughout the elevator.
