I start to survey the different kids around the bus as we pass the Missouri/Iowa border. Keep in mind I'm in 9th grade going on 10th grade so we're all like fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, etc. There's a big burly kid who keeps glancing at me, he could make a great bodyguard. He keeps falling for pranks and doesn't get jokes so not the brightest guy. Next! There's another dude who keeps cracking jokes but keeps saying the same ones over and over again. Nah. There's a chick who won't stop staring at me, but she and her friend just put out a cigarette so nope. None of these kids look like they're my type. The last time I had a friend was when I was in 3rd grade before I became rich. He was a short, stout kid but would always be there when I needed him. But when I became the fame of it all, my childhood was taken away.
But as we close in on the Kansas City national airport, one person catches my eye. She's about the same height as me and has long brown hair. She wasn't sitting with anyone else and was staring out the window. She wasn't sad but appeared, lonely. But I couldn't ponder on her or anyone else, we had just arrived at the airport.
