He's really cute

Zane found himself staring at it again.

Why did love have to be like this?

Those same three words were always there, sort of taunting him. He couldn't figure out who it was or where they met.

For all Zane knew his soulmate could be right before his eyes and he wouldn't even know it.

He could be living right next to him or at least in the area.

What if it was Gene? It couldn't be, could it? Those words, if they were Gene's, would have appeared years ago. They would have appeared in high school when they were dating or sometime before that, right? Zane didn't want to think about this, about Gene. What happened yesterday brought back some bad memories and it hurt Zane. What happened the last week they were together was the most painful time in his life.

He stayed up for nights on end just trying to convince himself that Gene loved him. After days Gene broke up with Zane just before his next class.

It set Zane over the edge.

The exhaustion and pressure got to him. His vision began to blur and Zane collapse in the middle of the hallway. 

That was when Garroth stepped in. He went to help Zane but Gene provoked him so it ended up in a fight. Laurence and Dante had to pull Garroth away from Gene before the fight went farther than some punches. Afterwards, Garroth and Zane were picked up from school by Zianna, both in the office for their own reasons.

Garroth stayed beside Zane the rest of the day and Zane let him. Garroth comforted his brother as Zane cried on his shoulder. When Vylad got back from school he immediately went to see if his brothers were ok, only to find them on the couch, Zane out cold at Garroth's side.

That was the weakest his family had ever seen him.

After that Zane was as closed off and bitter as ever. When Aphmau and Zane became friends he was protective over her because she cared when no one else really did. Even after he was rude to her all throughout high school and years after that she still thought Zane was worth it.

And now, Zane was beginning to open up to more people. He was even being better to his older brother but even so, Zane never recovered from what Gene did to him.

To say the least, Zane was afraid to fall in love again.

Then the totally unexpected happens and some mysterious mystery person knocks on the door. Zane gets out of bed, which he was still in and leaves his room to go answer the door. He opens the door to a small cheery potato.

"Hi Zane!" Aphmau almost shouts. "Go get dressed!"

"Wait, Why?" Zane asks confused but to no avail. She just pushed him up the stairs and into his room.

"Questions later!" Zane sighed and did as he was told. He got out of his pjs and got into his usual sweater and pants. He was obviously already wearing his mask, because it's Zane, what would you expect?

He went back downstairs, now dressed and ready for whatever Aph had planned. Once she saw him Aphmau grabbed Zane's wrist and bolted out the door. They came to a sudden stop as they were met with Aaron's car. Aphmau released Zane's arm and ran around the back of the car to get to the passenger seat, beside Aaron. Zane acted according and got in the back seat behind the driver. Once inside and buckled up, Zane looked to his side to see an excited Kawaii~chan.

"Hello Zane~kun!"

Maggie: she calls him kun, right?
Travis: I think so?
Maggie: you don't sound very sure of yourself?
Travis: because I'm not?
Zane: stop.

"Hello Kawaii~chan, how are you?" And small talk ensued. I don't like writing it so use your imagination. And if you don't have one then... Well, I don't really know...

"So Aph are you going to tell me what's happening?" Zane asked, turning away from the meif'wa.

Maggie: I sense some similarities here.

"Well!~ We are going on a picnic today! But some event is happening today so when it gets dark there will be fireworks!" Aphmau answered pointing the woven basket Kawaii~chan had with her.

"Oh, well, who's coming then?" This time Aaron was the one to answer.

"Laurence and Garroth are already there, Dante and Vylad are going to arrive a couple minutes after we do, Lucinda couldn't make it because of work, and I'm pretty sure Travis and Katelyn are there as well." Katelyn. Zane frowned when her and Travis were mentioned together. He didn't know why but it just upset him. Aphmau saw Zane's face drop. She changed the subject.

"I made cupcakes with Kawaii~chan! They have rainbow and sprinkles and they are so cute!" Zane smiled a bit behind his mask. After a minute of silence Aphmau turned on the radio. Both of the girls sang along to most of the songs that came on and even Aaron joined in every once and a while. The mood was light and Zane wanted it to stay like that, so he pushed Travis and Gene to the back of his mind. He decided he would talk to Aphmau about his feelings later, when they were alone. Even though his thoughts still bugged at him he ignored them and just focused on the good right now.

Wattpad sucks
I'm done writing this chapter again. Sorry I didn't post for a while, a lot was happening. I might not post a chapter until I stop getting homework n' shit but we'll see.
