How do I tell her?
How indeed would you tell a girl you were sorta dating (then sorta broke up with) that you are no longer interested and are also in love with a dude. That was what Travis was pondering at this moment.
Katelyn and him were setting up a blanket while Garroth and Laurence were bringing over drinks and paper plates. Garroth had been glancing at Travis the whole time with a look that just screamed "tell her!"
Travis huffed. He didn't know if it was the fact that he was really scared of Garroth or that he just felt really courageous but he was now ready to tell Katelyn. He tapped her on the shoulder and motioned for Katelyn to follow him. She did because I say so and they went to a tree.
About at that moment Zane arrived along with Aph, Aaron, and Kawaii~ Chan. As they walked over to the picnic spot they had chosen Zane saw Travis drag Katelyn out behind a tree. A familiar sinking feeling hit Zane like it had many times in the past. Zane still didn't understand why he was jealous of Katelyn but he was slowly starting to.
He definitely needed to talk to Aphmau about this later.
"Zane!" He heard his brother calling his name. He had spaced out. Zane shook his head and once again pushed his feelings to the back of his mind. As to not worry anyone he went to join them at the blanket laid out in the grass. Aph and Garroth exchanged worried looks when the raven haired boy wasn't looking.
Zane looked upset. Even with the mask you could see it in his eye. His pale blue iris were either facing the ground or the tree when he wasn't preoccupied with talking to someone, or passing a salad or something.
Sure enough, the two sorta ex lovers came back. One laughing and moving the hair from her face and the other scratching the back of his head with a sheepish grin. Travis was relieved that she understood and Katelyn was too. Though, this was not obvious to all, specifically speaking, Zane.
He saw a happy couple laughing and smiling. He saw the words on his leg and the possibility of who it could be. For some reason his mind kept telling him it was Travis but kept refusing to believe himself. Why would it be Travis? How could this perverse, idiotic, player think something so sweet towards a guy of all people.
But he wasn't always like that, at least, not in high school. In high school Travis was kind and gentle. In high school Travis might have had a crush on Zane. In high school Travis asked Zane out and got rejected harshly.
Zane zoned out again looking at Travis.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Travis joked. Zane's face flushed. He was upset and confused and just wanted to be alone. He needed to get away from everyone.
"Aaron, can I have the keys to the car?" Zane asked doing his best to control his voice.
"Yeah, why?"
"I think I left something inside of the car." Zane's voice wavered. Aaron gave a concerned look but handed over the keys. Zane grabbed the keys and stood up pushing past Travis and Vylad and Dante, who had just arrived. Tears brimmed his eyes so he walked faster to the car.
Everyone was confused as well. Nobody understood what happened but some people had an idea. Aphmau was about to go after Zane but Aaron stopped her.
"Let him be, he needs some time alone." Though she was worried for her friend she listened.
"What happened? D-did I say something wrong?" Travis stuttered. He felt horribly guilty about the whole situation even though he didn't understand why Zane was upset.
"No, Zane~Kun has been acting strange since the car ride over here." Kawaii~Chan responded. Aphmau nodded, confirming KC's speculation.
"Aaron mentioned you and Katelyn were here together and since then Zane has been sad and spaced out." Aphmau said glancing in the direction of the car.
"No, Zane has been acting weird since he got his wor- I mean nothing!" Garroth corrected himself.
"Hey, wait. Garroth what did Zane get?" Vylad intervened.
"Nothing..."
"Garroth"
"Fine! I give up! He got his soulmates words!" Garroth shouted. This came as a surprise to everyone (but the people who already knew).
"What, really? How long ago?" Travis said hoping for the best.
"About 5 days ago, the morning before that party Aphmau threw."
"Was it the first words or thoughts" Katelyn asked.
"Zane told me that nobody would outright call him cute, so thoughts."
"Well don't leave us to guess Garroth, what did it say." Katelyn demanded, rather than asked.
"He's really cute." Travis suddenly blushed like an anime. He remembered thinking those exact words the first time he saw Zane.
Travis suddenly felt a strange tingling somewhere just above his right hip. Any normal person would have brushed it off but not Travis. Everyone dramatically watched as he pulled up his shirt to reveal more black writing.
Leave me alone
Garroth: definitely Zane.
Aphmau: totally.
Katelyn: no doubts.
Maggie: yep.
Zane: well of course it's me! This is a fanfiction about a pairing that I'm in!
Maggie: too real Zane.
Travis: way to ruin the mood.
Zane: what mood?!It all started to come back to Travis. He remembered that day vividly. It was the day Travis got turned down by Zane after admitting his feelings.
And now your lovely author, which is me, is going to leave this chapter off here. Oh I cannot wait for the next chapter. It's going to have more emotions.
Prepare your butts.
There will be tears.
Not necessarily from you, but there will be tears.
Have a great day!
