When 5:00 finally rolls by, I clean up my desk (a.k.a put away the paper clip I had been playing with for the last hour) and walk over to Tyler's office. I knock on the wooden door to the small room and it opens a little bit.
"Josh?"
"Yeah. Hi." I say as I step inside.
"Just give me a second to pack up. 'K?" I nod in response and take a look around. Tyler has already made himself at home in the new space. He had a framed photo of him and, what I assumed was, his family, as well as a photo of a cute dog. I smiled. Dogs were pretty rad. A moment later, Tyler was standing in front of me with both of his arms through the straps of a plain black backpack. He looked cute.
"You ready to go?" I question. Tyler nods in response. I lead him towards the open door of his office, which he then closes behind us once we are in the hallway. We pass by the ugly bitch sitting behind the front desk, on our way out of the building.

We arrive at Taco Bell at 5:10 and decide to get our food and sit in one of the booths by a window.
"So what exactly do you do at the vet clinic?" Tyler asks me once we are seated and have begun eating. I swallow the bite that's in my mouth and grin at him.
"It's sounds really silly, but... I'm, like, a giraffe specialist." I say. I'm well aware of just how weird that sounded. Tyler chews his bite of chalupa and just looks at me. He smiles and swallows a second later.
"That's not very weird. I mean, I'm a frog surgeon." He chuckles a bit. "So do many giraffes come to the clinic?"
"Um... no, not really. Though, one day, one came in that was really pregnant but was, like, having trouble so we had to perform an emergency cesarian section. It was intense. And also really gross. Giraffe birth is not a pretty sight." I laugh and Tyler joins in. We continue to talk about funny work stories until we finish eating. That may not have been the best dinner conversation but it didn't bother either of us.
After we throw away our garbage, I decide to take Tyler down Main Street because that's where everything was. The first stop on our tour was the grocery store. It is essential to know where the grocery store is located.
While we were in the store, we bought some m & ms for 'dessert' and left for the next stop on our tour.
I decide that the next important place to show him was the bank. Everyone needs to go the bank every once in a while, so why not show him where it is? We don't go in, but we stop in front of the door, look in through the glass, and wave at the slightly grouchy people behind the desks. We decide to continue walking and leave them be before one of them gets mad at us. As we walk towards the next place I planned, I point out random little things like the pharmacy, some restaurant, and a park.
"Where to next?" Tyler asks as he reaches into the bag of m & ms he had in his hand. He gives me a questioning look once he had put the small hand full of candy into his mouth.
"Here." I answer as we approach the door to the town's only music store. He grins and follows me into the small, brightly-lit place. His brown eyes light up when he looks around at the countless vinyls, CDs, and posters that cover almost every wall. To my surprise, he walks straight over to the alternative section. He seemed like the type of person who listened to, like, pop or something. I wasn't one to judge though. I mean, I didn't really seem like the kind of person that listens to heavy metal, but I was.
Tyler gasps in surprise at something he had found on one of the shelves lining the walls. I walk over to him to see what vinyl he holds in his hands.
"I have always been looking for this album on vinyl!" He looks over at me with the cutest, most happy expression I have probably ever seen. I don't even bother looking to see what album it is, and just continue staring into his eyes, now grinning like an idiot.
After we look around some more and Tyler makes his purchase, we leave the store, politely saying good-bye to the happy man behind the counter.
"What kind of music do you listen to Josh?" Tyler asks me as we continue our walk. I think, for a moment, about how to answer this question. I smile and answer.
"Pretty much everything except country." I earn an adorable giggle from the adorable boy beside me. His happy vibes have put me in a good mood all day, even at work.
We continue walking, and talking about music until we arrive at the next stop. The book store/coffee shop. I open the door and hold it open as Tyler walks in.
"This is the hipster hangout." I introduce as he takes a look around the spacious room. All of the books line the entire back wall of the long, rectangular room. The place where they create the strange coffee creations they sell here, is a square area directly in the middle. Tyler and I decide to purchase some interesting flavours of hot chocolate. The one I order is named 'Mega Baileys Sherbet Chocolate Truffle Candy Mountain Explosion' and the one Tyler orders is simply called 'children'. Strange name for a hot chocolate flavour if you ask me, but whatever.
Tyler chose a cute little two-person table in the far corner of the shop for us to sit at and chat. This time, we discuss our views on various controversial topics, which somehow leads to a debate about which we thought was worse between vegans and people who like country music. We never came to a conclusion.
"Okay, okay. Agree to disagree?" I ask, raising my eyebrows in a questioning manner. He sighs and then nods. "Good."
After we check out the books, we leave the store and decide to go see a late movie. It was around 9:00 when we arrive at the movie theatre. We decide to see some random Mel Gibson movie seeing as it was the only movie showing that neither of us had seen yet.
The lady at the food counter seemed like she really didn't want to be there and I feel bad for her. I used to work at the movie theatre in high school. It was pretty shitty to be honest.
We get our popcorn and slushies and head into the theatre.
~*~
"That was a pretty bad movie to be honest." Tyler says as we walk out of the theatre.
"What? I didn't think it was that bad. " I say. He looks over at me with a look of disbelief. "Haha kidding. It was pretty terrible." He giggles and opens the door for him and I. As we walk towards the swamp where I live, I ask him a question.
"Where exactly do you live?"
"Uh... near that swamp we met in earlier today." I look at him in disbelief.
"I live in the swamp!" I exclaim "we're practically neighbours!". He grins at me and we continue making small talk as we journey home.
It's around midnight when we finally make it to Tyler's house.
"Thanks for showing me around" he says to me once we reach the door.
"No problem at all. I had a great time." I grin.
"So did I." He grins back.
"Well, we have work tomorrow, I should probably get home. See you soon." Before I can leave, Tyler pulls me in for a hug, which I gladly accept and hug him back. It had been an embarrassingly long time since I had been hugged. After we pull away I wave good bye and finally leave.
That was quite honestly one of the best nights of my life. It was never awkward with Tyler. Even though we had only met that morning, I already felt like we were friends. That was pretty cool. I hadn't had a friend in a while.
