Hopes and Dreams bring Determination

After about 4 periods of learning pointless rules and touring the building, it was finally lunchtime.

Maybe mom packed me a pot pie today! Asriel thought. As he hurried into the cafeteria, he stumbled and slammed right into a familiar girl-- no, two familiar girls.

"Chara?"

"Asriel?"

Asriel smiled, and laughed nervously.

"S-sorry about that, I stumbled..." He trailed off as he noticed the girl from his homeroom was with Chara.

"Um, Chara, is this your sister or something?" Looking closer at the girl, he noticed her eyes were closed. "Is she asleep?" He whispered.

"First of all, yeah, my younger sister. She's 9, but she's really smart so she skipped 2 grades. Secondly, no, she's awake. She was born with very... Strange eyes, so she keeps them shut. Believe me, you don't want to see them." Chara smiled. "Her name is Frisk, by the way."

Frisk stood up from where she sat, and held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you.. Um.. Asriel, was it? Chara's been talking about you non-stop since the lunch bell rang." Frisk smirked and glanced at Chara.

"H-hey!" Chara's rosy cheeks got even rosier.

"Well, I have to go eat now. See you later!" Asriel waved and walked over to an empty-- well, almost empty-- table. There was only a human with a brown and yellow striped poncho, talking to someone on his Blackberry phone.

What a day! Asriel thought as he opened his Voltron-themed lunch box. Immediately after he unzipped it, a foul odor curled up and into his nose.

"Aw, not snail pie!"
