Josie runs at rapid speed from the bunker. The last thing she wants is to be stopped by her parents or uncles, not that either angel family member would want to stop her.She zaps herself to a random forest a town over. Josie drops to her knees emotionally drained tears welling in her eyes and she just cries. She cries for the loss of her father's trust, she cries for the loss of her demon, she cries just to let everything out.
Her crying abruptly stops with the earth violently shaking. "Dad's angry," she whispers to the empty sky.
Josie sits in silence, thinking out loud, "Does Asmodeus love me? Or am I just a toy to him, an object used for his own... twisted desires? I can't be, can I? No, he loves me."
"Not that it matters anyway," She adds to the tumbling thoughts swirling both in the air and her mind, "He's gone now."
"Now angel, who said that?" A voice sounds from behind. Josie turns to see a short pudgy boy with Hazel eyes and long brown hair, it wasn't as long as her Pops's hair but it was longer for a guy.
"Who are you?"
"You don't recognize me?" His voice was sickly sweet and there was something familiar about it. The child huffs out a breath of frustration, "I don't suppose you would, I had to flee my vessel quite quickly after a run in with a beautiful angel and her parents."
Josie's face slowly morphs to that of recognition, "Asmodeus!"
"In the flesh angel"
"But my dad..."
Asmodeus cuts her off sharply, "Destroyed the old body, leaving me with this sexy body here," He jokes.
Josie laughs, but something seems... off about him. He doesn't have that same intoxicating aroma he did before. Josie slides it off as being the different vessel. After all, how can a pudgy twelve year old be alluring?
"How did you find me?" Josie asks.
"It wasn't too hard, you being a nephilim and all." He smirks, and laces his small fingers into hers, "That, and your beauty radiates, m'amore."
She slides her fingers out of his, uncomfortable with the size change, "Can we wait until you get your old vessel back?" She asks.
He falters, and the wind changes to a light breeze.
"Désolé, but I can't yet." He sighs, the breeze dancing through his curly hair. "I'm having it rebuilt, seeing as your family all but dissolved it."
"What do you mean, rebuilding it?"
Asmodeus strains to look up at her, but he flashes an award-winning smile and held out his hand. "Let me show you."
Josie cautiously took his hand, and the scenery melds and twists around her, from natural greens and the pale light of stars, to artificial greys and the bright hued sparks from machinery. Before she knew it, he had transported the both of them to his warehouse.
"You see, my grunts are literally rebuilding a body for me." He explains quietly, so that they don't become startled and mess up. The stone slab that held the naked vessel was tilted at an angle, with broad leather straps across the hips and neck. The empty vessel looked so realistic, except for the large unfinished chunks scattering the torso and limbs. The striking cheekbones made her swoon, and her attention was undivided to the vessel before the actual Asmodeus grabbed her attention. "You must be hungry."
It's as if his words triggered her digestive system, because her stomach growled in agreement with the prince, "Actually, know that you mention it," She looks down, and Asmodeus took her hand.
"We'll get you some dinner then." He claps once, and a shaky demon leads them to a closed off area, with one table occupied by two chairs, facing each other. The table was adorned with a gold candleholder, and more candles adorned the other areas of the room. The table was flawlessly set, as if someone was expecting two people to have a romantic dinner in a prince of hell hideout.
"Please, sit." The demon pulls her chair out first. She sits down, and mumbles a thank you to him as he then rushes to pull out Asmodeus' chair across from her. Once both of them were sat, the demon rushes away to prepare food.
"I took liberties with the menu. You have no food allergies, do you?"
"N-no I don't."
"Fantastic," Asmodeus says, flashing as best of a suave smile he can in a 12 year old vessel. He unravels his silverware from the napkin, and places the napkin onto his lap gently. Josie copies his etiquette
"So... uh where did you find the vessel?"
"Oh, this old thing?" He asks, gesturing to his body. She nods, and he continues, "Just kinda, ya know... found it around," He finishes, and something just seems off about the way he says it.
"How um how long till the old one is ready?"
"It seems as though the team working on it has no idea," He finishes bluntly.
"Well I hope it's soon I miss the old you" she says "I miss the you that I lo-... uh slept with daily" she chuckles nervously.
Asmodeus looks around, then clears his throat, "Well, that me should be back shortly," He barks out a laugh that almost seems forced.
"Yeah good I uh can't wait"
"Are you okay love? You seem a bit bummed."
"Oh well you know, just ran away from home," She says, "Now I'm on a date with my demon lover, who at the moment looks like a twelve year old."
Asmodeus snorts, "Never a dull moment with you, is it?"
"Guess not."
Asmodeus stays silent as a sharply dressed demon comes to their table with the meal of choice; premium lobster tail on top of wilted spinach, with a side dish of risotto with a light buttery drizzle.
"This looks good," Josie admires the food in front of her.
"I'm glad you like it, my love."
The two stay silent after that, more focused on eating than talking. Josie avoids eye contact with the twelve year old in front of her, instead focusing all her attention on the meal.
When dessert rolls around, a demon came up to Asmodeus. "Sir, the task is done," the demon says simply.
"Excellent," Asmodeus turns to Josie and excuses himself from the table to follow the demon. When he returns. he's back to his original, alluring vessel.
"I'm back baby!"
