"YOU KNOW," Rebekah began as her and Violet cleaned up various items from the dance that occurred the night before. "I still haven't been to a school dance yet."
Violet frowned, realizing that it was true. The first chance Rebekah had gotten to go to a school dance was Homecoming, where Elena daggered her. And now, Esther had appeared and taken Rebekah's last chance to experience a high school dance.
"I'm sorry, Bekah. I promise, once all of this blows over, you and I will go out shopping and have sleepovers and talk about boys all you want. You'll get your human experience, I promise." Rebekah grinned in response, their conversation being cut off when Caroline entered the gym.
"Where's Matt?" The younger vampire asked, eyeing the other two blondes weirdly as they cleaned.
Rebekah picked up a cup from the table, tossing it into the recycling bin in her arms. "He bailed. Got called into work at the last minute."
Caroline's arms dropped to her sides. "Are you kidding me? So, it's just us?"
"Yes, and you're late." Rebekah scolded. "Clean up committee started at eight o'clock." Caroline glanced at her phone in confusion. "It's like 8:02."
Rebekah stared at her blankly. "Exactly. We managed to turn up on time and I didn't even get to attend the dance that I organized." The Original walked past Caroline, dumping the contents of the bin into a larger trash can.
Caroline exhaled through her nose, looking over at Violet who could only give her a knowing look. All Rebekah wanted was to have a human experience, and Caroline knew that. "I'm sorry about your mom." Rebekahs head shot up at the younger vampires words. "I mean I know you like, hated her and everything, but still...I'm sorry."
Rebekah dumped out the bins remaining contents and shut the lid to the trash. "I'm sorry about your teacher. He seemed like a nice guy."
Caroline gave her a weak smile. "Yeah. He was."
"I'm gonna get started on the gym." Rebekah says quietly before walking out of the cafeteria. An awkward silence falls upon Violet and Caroline. After a moment, both look at each other with guilty expressions and blurt out in unison, "I'm sorry."
The two let out laughs, moving towards each other and embracing. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting to say that." Caroline mumbles.
They pull apart, Violet smiling apologetically. "It's alright, Care. We've both done some pretty horrible things. All is forgiven."
Caroline opens her mouth to reply but a sound catches her ear, and before Violet could blink, Caroline had sped her out into the hallway. Their eyes landed on Alaric, pinning Rebekah to the lockers with a stake prepared above her chest. Violet couldn't hold back the gasp that escaped her lip as Caroline and Rebekah switched the position and held Alaric against the lockers, pushing the stake into his chest.
