"Hey track star. You want some water?" I look up to my left and see Dinah raising her eyebrows in amusement.
"I didn't know you were in this class." Is all I say back because I'm legitimately caught off guard.
"I usually sit in the back, completely confused, probably eating a snack." She says holding up a bag of chips. "By the way, I'm sorry about earlier. We don't know her well but she's our suite mate we occasionally eat food with. And we know her boyfriend is a dick and a hoe." She finishes with a smile.
I let out a small laugh and open my mouth to respond but I'm cut off by our professor starting class. I look over to Dinah occasionally to find her genuinely confused. Her eyebrows furrow every time we are supposed to try a problem. Her notes have things crossed out all over the page with arrows pointing everywhere and several things underlined. The class flies past and by the end I see Dinah with her head down and a chip hanging out of her mouth. The professor dismisses us and everyone starts to pack up while Dinah does so a lot slower than everyone else. After I pack up, I look down and see Dinah still sitting down while gathering her notes and excessive snacks.
"Hey Dinah." I say to get her attention. "If you really do need help, I can help you catch up and stuff if you want." I say with a nonchalant shrug.
She grins widely and quirks her eyebrow. "Really? You get this stuff?" She says sounding a little surprised.
"Yeah. Math is my best subject." I say with a cheesy smile.
She laughs as she picks up her bag. "You sure you don't mind? I'm pretty bad at this stuff. Math is definitely not my best subject."
We walk out the door of the classroom and head out of the hallway. "Yeah it's not a big deal. I don't have much else to do anyway."
"Then yes. A million times yes. Like do you want my number or I can take yours?"
"Hmmm I don't know. Will your boyfriend mind?" I ask playfully with a finger resting on my chin.
"What he doesn't know won't kill him." She says with a smile and a wink.
I laugh and hand her my phone. "Your place or mine?" I add with a wiggle of my eyebrows.
"Mine." She says quickly while handing me back my phone. I raise an eyebrow at the change of pace while grabbing my phone from her hand. "Umm Lauren won't be there much so we'll have more quiet time." She adds on.
I nod my head. "Ok so I'll just text you when I get my schedule and we can plan from there." I smile and she nods her head in answer. I turn to walk and pick Ally up from the library so we can have our "talk" and I can drop her off at work.
I find her in her usual corner, completely focused on her work so I take the seat across for her and wait for her to finish her last few problems. When she finishes she looks up a bit surprised but no where near as surprised as she would be if I attempted to interrupt her concentration.
"Hey. You ready to go?" I ask.
She starts to pack up her books and notes that are very organized around the table. "Yep. And your right on time too." We leave the library quietly and right when we get outside of the door, she looks at me.
I let out a small breath and think of what to say. I find myself trying to say the least I can get away with without making her ask anymore questions and without completely oversharing. "I ran into Zendaya earlier and she slightly embarrassed me in front of my new friends but everything is fine now." I say as we continue to walk back to the dorms.
"Oh please tell me I can fight her now." Ally says with her fists raised and a mean mug on her face.
I laugh hard at that. When I finally get enough strength to open my eyes again, she's standing there looking at me with a glare. I start to laugh again and she cuts me off with a punch to my arm. I wipe an imaginary tear from under my eye. "Sorry Ally. It's just that I never imagined you fighting and now that I have I can't get the image out of my mind." I could barely finish the end of the sentence before I start to chuckle.
