"Just don't leave me alone with any of the white people." I plead as we walk the rest of the distance of the hallway. "Feel free to exclude Dua from that list though. She's a spicy white so she's cool. Zara's ok too because she just compliments me the entire time. Hailee is cool too but only when she's sober. Also-"
"Alright, I get it." She laughs as we approach the door. She knocks hard a couple of times and the door opens up wide.
Dua rushes to give me a hug first, a cup of something alcoholic already in her hand. And by the way her body is gently swaying, I'd say it's pretty strong. "I missed you, Mami. Where have you been?" I chuckle at the brand new nickname they've attributed to me and give her a slight squeeze before pulling away.
"Missed you, too. If your friends wasn't so crazy maybe we'd hang out more." I laugh and she puts a dramatic pout on her face.
There's a loud noise behind her and she quickly turns around to see Hailee trying to wrestle a phone away from Khalid. "You're not lying though." She chuckles and then brings Lauren into a hug, whispering something into her ear with a giggle. "Anyway you guys are just in time for Drunk Jenga! Hey everyone! Look who's here."
The medium sized group turned their heads from stacking the blocks and smiles. Zara skips up to us first hugging me tightly. "Wow you get more beautiful every time I see you!"
"Thanks, Z." She smiles brightly before giving Lauren a hug as well.
"And you look gorgeous! This is a cute little outfit."
"Thanks." Lauren smiles and a small blush appears on her cheeks as she looks at her outfit.
"Thirsty?" She asks.
"Yeah, you are. Let them get their own drinks." Dua chuckles and leads Zara back to the tower they're setting up.
"Yay. More people." Alessia smiles from the couch to counteract the dry tone she spoke with. Alessia is cool too. Quiet and seems happy without interacting with people. A big punchbowl sits in front of her on the coffee table.
"Yay. Alessia." I mimic her tone and give her a smile as well.
"Special jungle juice tonight." She grabs two cups and the ladle and starts to fill them up. The juice is purple but has a reddish hue to it along with random fruit floating around.
"Who made it?" Lauren pipes in after saying hello to some of the guests next to the table.
"Everyone so be careful." She winks and laughs softly, handing us the two cups.
---------------------------------------------
We make it through drunk Jenga, drunk twister, drunk charades and now we are on our last cup in beer pong. Lauren and I are far from losing against a determined Hailee and carefree Khalid."It'd be helpful if you tried Khalid." Hailee groans out as he misses yet another shot.
"I'm trying but the ball keeps slipping out of my fingers and my eyes hurt a little." He rubs at his already red eyes a little with a smile intact on his face.
I grab the ball and aim my shot, getting directly in the cup. Hailee doesn't even attempt to call redemption and instead sits down defeatedly. "Wow. Who knew Ally wasn't the only one with beer pong skills?" Lauren teases beside me with a smile, referencing the night we met.
"Only you, party girl. But don't tell anyone, it's a secret." I whisper in her ear, the alcohol getting to me two games ago. Bad ideas swirl through my head but I pull away from her face with the little bit of will I have left.
"I didn't know we still used that nickname." Lauren chuckles and leans against the table we were using for the game.
"Only I do." I say softly but she hears me as her smile turns into a fond one.
