"Skylar..." Aspen suspiciously said. "What's up with you... huh." She laughed.
I just stood there thinking of what to say.
"I'm just happy to be able to be in your gym class with you." I kind of laughed.
"Ya why are you here by the way?" She was standing with a group of girls that are the backstabbing type.
"Oh you know just got kicked out of Spanish 3."
"Skylar why does that not surprise me. You and Ms. Amblur never have gotten along." She chuckled.
A girl who was listening chimed in and gasped, "you don't get along with Ms. Amblur? She is my favorite teacher in the whole world." It was Tiffany.
I rolled my eyes, walked away, and grabbed Aspen and she went with me.
"Thank god that you got me away from them this year. You know what would happen there, "the oh my gosh let's be friends so I can spread your secrets around," kind of thing Skylar." Aspen said relieved.
"My point exactly," I nervously said.
"Ok so what's up with you Sky? You seem shook?"
I put on a smile. "Dude I'm fine. I just don't want to be here."
"Same girl same." She walked over to the bleachers and sat down, me sitting down next to her.
The gym doors open and in walked Aidan. He looked at me, shook his head, smiled, and walked over to the teacher.
I just kind of half smiled so Aspen wouldn't catch on.
"Sky. That dude is totally into you," she said in excitement.
"You think so?" I smiled.
"Yeah. I mean I would totally go for it," she laughed, "I give you permission."
"Aspen, I don't think so. He probably goes out with girls like Tiffany, calls them the love of his life. Then the next week he dumps them."
"True, but I would give it a try if you don't."
She is so pushy. I looked over at him and he was staring at me. I glanced over at the group of girls hat Aspen was staring at and they were drooling over him.
"Looks like he will probably be taken soon," I joked and motioned with my eyes over towards the girls.
"Yeah. Bummer." Aspen whispered and then she stood up.
"What are you doing?" I asked, standing up.
"The bells going to ring?"
"Oh ok. I must've forgotten the bell times."At lunch...
So lunch rolled around and I was already done with school. "Hey," I yelled to Aspen who was walking towards me with a tray in her hands. "So how's school so far?"
"Ha don't even ask. You know the answer." She joked.
"Shitty," we both said at the same time.
"Wow you two are too much alike," Devin said as she was shoveling food into her mouth.
"So did you guys see the new kid?" Dakota asked in aw.
"Ya, mighty fine." Trish interrupted.
"Guys he's not a wild animal here. Get a grip." I ruined their little chat.
"Sky since when do you care?" Cassie snarked.
"Since you seem to date ever single guy in this cafeteria," Aspen chimed in. I high fived Aspen under the table.
"Well, if that's how you guys feel then I'm leaving." She got up and so did Trish and walked away. I watched them walk right to the guys table and sit down.
"Well that's typical," I murmured.
"It wouldn't be the first day without that," Devin joked.
"That's for sure," Dakota finished that with. The rest of lunch that day consisted of messing around and joking 24/7.
Walking back to class I dropped the bomb on Aspen. "Hey Aspen you know something?"
"What?"
"So you know how I had to drop Spanish?"
"Yeah."
"Well I took advanced Chem and I'm gonna fail."
"Don't look at me for help because I had to drop that class last year. It was so difficult, especially with Mr. Burg. He can't teach to save his life."
"I laughed, " well then I'm royaly screwed."
"You got that right. But by have fun in Chem." She laughed and walked off to her first class.
I walked to my locker but when I go there someone was waiting for me. Aidan.
"Wow could you walk any slower. I thought by the time you got here we would be graduated."
"Ha ha very funny Aidan. So how did you find your way around? Did the swarm of girls carry you down the hallway?" I joked back.
"Ha no. I found my way around thank you very much."
"Sure you did."
"So this class we were put in. Will it be super difficult?" Aidan asked.
I picked up my stuff from the shelf on my locker and closed it. "Hell yes."
"Well we can fail together," he mentioned.
"You got that right." I walked away and he followed.
"So Aidan, did you make any friends today."
"Um Skylar. No, well the jocks motioned me over but I just waved and walked away. I don't want any part of that. They are major jerks."
"So who did you sit by at lunch?" I asked
"Umm the thing is..."
"Let me guess it was no one." I said.
"Ha you right. But I saw you were sitting with your friends, maybe I could sit with you guys next week?" He asked.
"Aidan Aidan Aidan." I turned towards him and walked backwards. "The thing is my table is for cool people only." I laughed.
"Well by the looks of it there was not a single cool person there."
"Ha Moore. Fine sit with us if you want. But here's a heads up, you are going to get grilled by my friends a lot."
"That's fine with me." He opened the door for me and and then walked in. There was two empty desks in the back so we took them.
Even on the first day that class was confusing. And of all things, Mr. Burg just had to assign homework. Homework on the first day? I think not. Eventually the bell rang and I had one class left. It was art. Thank god that was my last class because I would've went ballistic if it wasn't.
All you do in that class is look projects up on Pinterest and draw them. Half the time you're talking and the other half your on your phone. It's a win win for everyone.
Finally school was over. But I still had to go to practice till 5:30. Ugh. Nothing really major happens so I'm just gonna skip to when I pick Aspen up.
6:00 rolls around and I'm sitting outside Aspen's house. I texted her; hey I'm outside where u at?
She texted back; dude just come inside.
I shut the car off and walked up to Aspen's house. As soon as I went to turn the handle the door burst open and her little brother was standing there.
"What do you want?" Jermey said.
I walked in and upstairs to Aspens room. She was still getting ready.
"Wow Aspen. I give you 4 hours to get ready and you still aren't ready," I joked.
"True. But I did something after school so you can't blame me."
"ASPEN ELIZABETH STEEPLE where were youuu?" I smirked.
"Skylar." She rolled her eyes. "I was getting clothes with my mom."
"Oh that's a big let down." We started to laugh.
"Yeah."
"I'm giving two more minutes to get ready or I'm leaving your ass."
"Fine I'm ready." She said as she wiped on some lip gloss.
We walked out to my car and as soon as we got in she grabbed the aux cord and plugged it into her phone.
"You can use that only on one condition."
"Yes queen?"
"You cannot play any weird ass music."
"0k I'll obey your rules."That night we drove around and then stopped and got ice cream at the beach. I live in North Carolina and close to the beach so at least we had something to do. I think I dropped Aspen off at 10:30 and then I just drove around and listened to music. By listen to music I mean yell all the lyrics out because no one could hear me. Very classy, I know. I eventually got home at 11:45 that night.
I walked in the door and my mom was waiting for me.
"So how was your first day of school?" She pestered.
"Oh you know the normal boring ass day that it usually is. I set down my bags by the kitchen table.
"Oh but please just let me know that you're gonna stay out this late."
"I'm sorry. I will tell you next time. I'm gonna head up to bed. Night."
I walked up to my room and went to bed.The next day
I totally forgot I had a volleyball tournament. Good thing my mom woke me up. I rushed around looking for everything. Eventually I found it and was on my way. I wasn't even late. That's new for me. I got on the bus and sat next to Devin.
"Did you forget?" She asked with a yawn.
"Psssht no.... yes." I laughed. The tournament was an hour away so it will be an all day thing. Let's be honest here does anyone else find all day tournaments annoying? It's probably just me but. So of course I fell asleep. Devin woke me up by poking my face.
"Thanks," I sarcastically said and slapped her finger away.
"Well then don't fall asleep."
"Whatever." I grabbed my bag from the seat beside us and got off the bus.
We walked through the doors, I looked at Devin and mumbled, "Ugh I don't want to be here at all."
"Same. I'm tired, it's a Saturday, and it's early."
We walked into the locker room and I threw my bag down and sighed. I put on my jersey and spandex and slipped on my knee pads.
Devin looks at me and says, "Skylar is something bothering you?"
"No. Why?"
"I don't know you seemed different yesterday."
"Devin." I looked at her as I was putting on my shoes. "Nothing is wrong. It was the first day back and you know how much me and Ms. Amblur get along. Well I was kicked out. So I must've been worried about advanced chemistry."
"Are you sure?"
"Devin, yes I'm sure." I smiled.
"LADYS LETS GO!" Yelled coach from the door leading out to the gym. We all scurried out and I looked across the gym. Aidan was sitting there with a group of guys.
He motioned me to go back in the locker room to check my phone.
"Hey coach." I ran up to her and asked.
"Ya?"
"I forgot my water bottle in the locker room. Can I go grab it quick?"
"Ya no problem but hurry. Warm ups start in 6 minutes."
"Thanks." I ran into the locker room and looked at my phone. I was shook. I grabbed a water bottle I found in the bottom of my bag from two weeks ago and jogged out.
"Hey coach." I said nervously.
"What?"
"My mom just texted me that she was waiting outside. My great grandma is in the hospital. So do I have permission to leave? I'm really sorry."
"Braxton, you're a key player but I don't want you to not be at the hospital if something happens. Go ahead and go. I hope your grandma gets better." I ran back in the locker room and changed back into the tshirt and athletic shorts I wore there. I pulled on my shoes, grabbed my bag and walked out to the outside of the school.
Aidan soon came out. I know I know this is bad but hopefully they will understand.

High School Sucks; or what I thought
Teen FictionLet's be honest; high school is far from the "picture perfect" high school musical movie that we all watched when we were young. High school is, let's just say, adventurous. Take it from me, Skylar, a junior at East high. I thought that high school...
