(My Wattpad is broken and won't let me follow anyone 😔 so I can't tag her. Sorry!)

"Lucas! Lucas, don't forget to be home before sunrise!" His mom called from the house. It was around twelve at night, and if Lucas had regular neighbors, they'd probably be coming out of their houses dressed in robes and slippers, yelling at his mom to shut up. But since he doesn't have regular neighbors, no mad people in night gowns emerged. Instead, they completely ignored her. Lucas sighed and continued walking down the street, street lamps lighting his way. It's been three days since he moved to The Underground, and today would be his first official day at his new school. The Underground was a country completely made up of monsters, creatures, myths, and general non-human beings.

How his parents found this place, he didn't know, but this was his new home. And he was going to treat it just like all his others. It was essentially the same anyway. Except he was a vampire now. And he had to drink blood. And every time he goes out into the sun, his skin feels like it's being sautéd. Plus he had to learn and live with other monsters and creatures like him. Lucas pulled at his dark blue tie. He couldn't believe he had to wear a uniform. What was this, some sort of anime? The school uniform he had to wear was a short sleeve grey shirt, dark blue tie, black vest, and dark blue pants. Ahead of him, he saw the figures of other people walking right towards him. As they got closer, Lucas froze as his breath quickened and his heart began beating faster. Fear wrapped around him like a snake slowly squeezing the life out of it's victim as he stared into the faces of the people approaching. A skeleton, pure white, boney, and grinning, in a poka dot sundress was chatting away to the large snail-like humanoid creature besides it. They both walked right past him, not even glancing over in his direction. Only when they passed did Lucas breathe, not knowing he was holding his breath. Damn. Talking skeletons. Giant snails. Ugh. I don't think I'll ever get used to that.

He put a hand on his face and closed his eyes. His brain felt overloaded. Lucas has been trying his best to wrap his head around the concept of a whole new world, but this was too much. How was he supposed to survive in this new reality? Just pretend like everything was ok and get on with life? He was sure he was slowly going insane. One day soon he would reach his weirdness limit and- "Hey, your the new kid right?" A voice snapped him out of his thoughts and he turned to see who the voice belonged too. A boy his age stood behind him, wearing the same uniform except his tie was looser. He had a narrow body, messy brown hair, sickly grey skin, and hollow blue eyes. A zig zag stitch was sewn across his neck, as if it had been cut off then sewn back on. He wasn't the most human looking person he'd seen so far, but human enough for Lucas to not feel like puking when he looked at him. He took a few deep breaths to regain his composure.

"What's it matter to you?" He said coldly and immediately cringed inside. Oh great, now he's probably going to scare off the only person he's not scared of right now. The boy just blinked slowly and regarded the markings on his arm. He followed them up to his neck then looked at his fangs and eyes. "Ah. So your a vampire. That's cool." He put his hands in his pocket. "I'm Wyatt. If you can't tell, I'm a zombie. Well not really a zombie. I don't need to eat brains, and it's only my head that pops off, though I am technically dead. My mom's a Limbless and my dad's a zombie. He paused for a second. "Oh, you don't know what a Limbless is do you?" Lucas stared. "Did you say zombie?" "A Limbless is kinda like a zombie," Wyatt droned on, oblivious to Lucas's question. Lucas felt a flash of annoyance. Is this guy slow, or just plain stupid? He hated stupid people. Couldn't stand them. Wyatt continued with his explanation, eyes drooping.

"They don't have a body part. They're dead, so they don't need it." When he spoke it was in a bland monotone voice. "Sometimes it's a toe or a hand, but it could also be an entire head or an arm. My mom doesn't have her left four fingers. Just a thumb. She ca"- "Will you shut up?" Lucas interrupted, annoyed. "I don't exactly want to listen to you go on and on." "Oh." Wyatt blink lazily. "Ok." Lucas huffed, turned around, and walked away. Three minutes later, Wyatt caught up and began walking besides him, staring blankly into space. Lucas felt yet another stab of annoyance at Wyatt's actions. This guy really was an idiot. Couldn't he take a hint? "What do you want?" Lucas spat. Wyatt looked back at Lucas. "What do I want?" He repeated. "Well. . . I'd like to try a mushroom burger. Those sound weird. Mushrooms are like a fungus, right? So why"-"I mean what do you want with ME?!" He yelled, fed up. He suddenly noticed that more "people" wearing the same uniform as him were in the street, heading to school too. A pretty girl wearing the female uniform looked over at them, startled at Lucas's outburst. Her dark blue skirt went to her knees, whilst the girl's next to her barely deserved the name. The girl next to her had a spiked tail and a pair of spike horns. She regarded Lucas with a cold glare and whispered to the girl who had been startled.

Lucas gritted his teeth and whipped to Wyatt. "What do you want?!?" "Uh. . ." Wyatt thought for a moment. "Not anything really. I just thought I could walk next to you. You don't have to tell me your name. If you don't want too. You don't have to." Lucas opened his mouth to tell him to go away when a large red boy in the school uniform came up from behind Wyatt and smacked off his head. Lucas's mouth sagged in horror and shock as he watched Wyatt's head fly off his neck and bounce on the pavement before rolling to a stop. A scaly humanoid creature with a mouth full of fangs in a boy's school uniform looked down at Wyatt's head then kicked it back to his body. His body knelt down and caught it's head. Lucas felt his throat squeeze shut and he struggled to breath. He wanted to turn away, but couldn't tear his eyes from the fascinatingly grotesque sight. Wyatt's body lifted his head up to see the creature that had helped him. "Thanks Gerbick." He- his head- called. The creature nodded then started walking again.

Wyatt placed his severed head back onto his neck. Keeping one hand on his head to keep it in place, he used the other to pat at his clothing. "Wha-?" Lucas's voice cracked and he cleared his throat. "What are you doing?" He asked, voice stronger. "Looking for my needle," Wyatt said, still patting his clothes. "This happens often. So I carry a needle and thread." He produced a needle from his pants pocket and brought it up to where his head and neck met. "Wait," Lucas gasped. "You aren't going to-" He stabbed the needle into his flesh and pulled it through, thread following it. Lucas felt like he was going to puke. He turned away, covering his mouth. Don't throw up. Don't throw up. Don't you dare throw up. He felt a tap in his shoulder and looked back at Wyatt. His head was attached onto his body again, which calmed Lucas's stomach. "You ok?" Wyatt asked, sounding slightly confused. "You act like that's the first time you've seen someone lose a body part." Lucas pursed his lips and began walking faster. Wyatt practically had to run to keep up with him. "It doesn't hurt. It's just a little numb. So sewing it back on is easy." "Look," Lucas growled. "I don't know what your deal is, but would you just shut up and leave me alone?!" Wyatt fell silent. Lucas felt a twinge of remorse for yelling at him, but it was his own fault. He shouldn't be so stupid, and just leave him alone.

"I know you think your better then me," Wyatt said, breaking the silence. "I know. It's ok. You can. But maybe you can. . . Pretend to be ok with me?" Lucas whipped his head around to stare at Wyatt, confused. "What?"
"You seem like a vampire of noble blood. I know your kind don't like mixing with my kind. I know you don't like "Halfs" but if you put up with me, then maybe some of the other vampires won't knock off my head so much. Your new and all, and probably don't want to ruin your reputation by being seen with me. But can you just put up with me for a day please? I'll try to stop talking." Lucas was surprised by Wyatt's sudden confession. Halfs? Other vampires? Reputation? What the heck was he talking about? Having his head knocked off? Does that mean Wyatt's getting bullied? Lucas sighed and looked away. He didn't like bullies. He hated them. Being all high and mighty. Who the hell do they think they are to have the right to look down on others? "Lucas." Wyatt blinked. "What?" "Lucas," Lucas repeated looking back at him. "My name's Lucas. And I don't know what your talking about with reputations and noble blood vampires and Halfs, but bullies suck. And I certainly won't be one of them. So, as long as your not stupid, you can hang out with me. I hate stupid people."

Wyatt blinked slowly, processing the information. "Ok." He responded. "Thanks. I'm not stupid. I'm just a bit. . . slow. Does that count?" Lucas smirked, amused. "We'll have to see."
