"She sits at home with the lights out, Seeing life in different colours, I think it's time that we wake up. So let me take you away."

Ashton's POV

Prologue:

I sat at the back of English class, drumming my blunt lead pencil against the old wooden desk as my glasses began to fall onto the bridge of my nose. My hood was over my messy blonde hair as usual. Nobody spoke to me in English class, except for my only friend at this school, Michael.

"Dude, she's gonna kill you," Michael whispered as our cranky old teacher Mrs. Adams wrote on the worn down whiteboard.

"Why is she gonna kill me?" I questioned as there was a soft knock at the door causing Mrs. Adams to groan and stamp her foot as she walked over to the door.

"You know she doesn't like it when you drum in the middle of class," Michael explained as a girl with bright blue hair shuffled into class. I could practically hear Michael's jaw drop

"12B, welcome our newest student, Ariel Winters," Mrs. Adams exclaimed, making the girl smile and tug on her shirt which happened to be Blink 182. This is the most enthusiastic sounding she's been all year, maybe even her whole life.

"Dibs," Michael whispered, making me laugh.

"You can have her dude," I laughed as I got back to my so called 'work'.

I heard shuffling come from my left side; the familiar sound of Stella by All Time Low blasting from a pair of earphones. I looked up to see Ariel sitting next to me; her thick black glasses falling just below her eyes, reminding me of myself.

"I'm Ariel," She introduced herself making me smile weakly. I'm not the one for human interaction, but I'm also not the one to be rude.

"Ashton," I replied as the bell rang through the entire classroom making me smile a bit. It was lunch now, and I spent nearly all of it either in the library or in the music room. Or as I like to call it, my sanctuary.
