"Caleb!" Alyssa yelled as she pulled my hand. "What do you want?" I turned and asked. "I'm sorry..." "Do I look like I care?" I stomped off, leaving her speechless. I walked home. Alone. For the first time in my life, I missed Alyssa's chatter beside my ears. I treated Alyssa like my sister. Annoying she could be at times, she never failed to bring a smile to my face. But she forgot my birthday. I unlocked my house door, only to be greeted by my mother's gigantic smile, followed by a perfume-scented hug. "Happy birthday, my big baby!" she ruffled my hair. "Thanks mum," I smiled a smile which probably did not reach my eyes, considering her next question. "Is anything wrong?" she asked in concern. I shook my head and re-smiled, hoping it looked like a real one. Fortunately, she bought it. After finishing a delicious slice of chocolate cake, I heard a knock on the door. I swung it open.
Alyssa.
"Um... hi?" I acknowledged her presence awkwardly. Then, to my greatest surprise (no, she did not kiss me), Alyssa hugged me and started apologising profusely. "Okay, I forgive you," I laughed. "Oh thank goodness. I can't stand you being angry at me for another second." "Don't exaggerate," I huffed. "Happy birthday!" "Thanks!" "I got you something. "You didn't have to." "Per-lease, the whole world knows you love gifts." "You know me too well." She smiled in reply as she fished out a box and handed it to me. I opened the box and gasped. "Ally... THANK YOU SO MUCH!" I smiled and hugged her. The beautiful gold watch glimmered in the sunlight. "You didn't have to," I chided. "Oh I did!" she laughed, her eyes twinkling merrily. (A/N: Gosh I cringed at this part. Reminds me of stories I used to read when I was younger... don't judge this part, yes I know it's cringeworthy.) "Mum? I'm heading to work!" I waved as I grabbed my phone, before shutting the door. "Cal... I'm really sorry..." Alyssa sighed. "I'm not angry. I never was."

"62! Nice watch, hand it over. NOW. I need to scan it." Zack ordered. "What?! No! Alyssa gave it to me as a birthday present!" I held the watch, which was now clasped on my wrist, tightly. "Exactly! It could be a camera!" "Never! She wouldn't do that!" Nevertheless, I handed it over, then turning to collect paperwork. Zack scanned it, and went, "AHA!" Panic and shock filed me as I spun around. "It's a normal watch, take it back." He passed me the watch. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding "So, how's your mission going?" Zack asked. I stiffened. "Not going well..." I murmured. "62, I know that this is hard for you, but you have to do it," Zack patted my shoulder and walked off. I started sorting out the paperwork at my desk.
For an hour.
Another hour.
And another hour.
Until I saw a particular file.
Alyssa Elisabeth Armstrong.
