Chapter 5 - Experiments

I could suddenly see everything, Matt, Cedric and Ashley sitting on the ground near a humanly shaped thing covered in what looked like black snakes. The memories started rushing back to me. The dark room, my screams, me falling to the ground.

Am I dead?

I screamed as loud as my lungs would allow. Again and again I screamed hoping someone would hear me. As I was crying in despair, begging them to hear, I remembered I was telekinetic. I tried to send a message to Matt, I saw him look around the room and heard the faint sound of his voice screaming my name as the darkness washed over me once again.

What seemed like lifetimes later, I woke up in tight coils of oily black snakes. The room was now dimly lit, allowing me to see some. Cedric and Ashley were huddled in a corner, visibly asleep. Matt was lying on his back in the middle of the room. I got the snakes of me with little struggle. I stood up and walked towards Matt. I was a few inches when I stepped on some circular device in the ground. As if in a videogame, the floor opened up. We all fell through.

It felt as if I'd been falling for centuries when we all landed in a circular room. It felt as if it had been made of scales. I barely managed to stand up when we began to plummet once again.

I could only hear the air rushing around me. I then heard a loud splash below me. Before I could even process it, I was in a giant water tank with my three friends.

We all began swimming up. When my lungs began to burn, and my eyes blur, the top of the tank opened and the water vanished. We were hauled out, then carried hastily to our sleeping quarters.

"Children!" A female voice screeched. "You have failed to complete the task given today. You will be given a second chance tomorrow. But afterwards, punishment will be inflicted for failing."

"Are you insane!? You didn't give us a task! You sent us plummeting to the earth's core, but nothing else!" Matt said, menacingly.

"Mr. Collins Behavior of this sort will not be tolerated. If you wish to continue to commit such outbursts, I shall inflict punishment to you and your friends sooner."

The woman pulled back the hood of her long black cloak. Her skin was gray, her eyes were all black, and her blood red hair curled into knives at the tips. Her sickly colored green lips curled back into a deadly smile revealing pearl-white fangs. She slid a long taloned finger down my face from my cheekbone, just below my eye to my jawbone, leaving a cut to pour blood down my face like tears.

"Maybe I'll start with the child you seem to care so deeply for."

There was a long pause, we all stared at the strange woman, stricken and paralyzed in terror, as her eyes seemed to carve our souls out of our bodies.

"Children, don't look so scared! I too read minds, I know what each of you feels and thinks!"

What on earth is going on in this madhouse?!
