Humans aren't perfect. We don't know everything there is to know about the mysterious thing we call life yet often some of us pretend we do. Some people think they have the authority to decide if someone should live or die. A lot of times, we point a finger at the wrong person and they are punished for something they never dreamed of doing.
Unfortunately, this happened to Miss Alice Cochen. The poor girl went insane long before the death of her two parents although the death played a role in her going more insane. She had witnessed a murder but couldn't do anything about saving the person. Alice turned to her family and went there as a visit to talk about her role as Nancy and forget about the murder she had helplessly seen. But she was thrown out of the house she had the few memories of her childhood in. Alice Cochen couldn't take much more. The murder of her parents was the straw that broke the camel's back. She pleaded innocent, begged mercy but her bloodshot eyes, trembling body, unnaturally pale skin, and crazy, terrifying reactions made her seem as guilty as can be and she was placed in jail for the rest of her life.
Miss Cochen couldn't take more unfairness, more unhappiness and had" the last laugh" as she put it. She took her life after the trial. It lead people to believe she couldn't take the punishment and the pain of her murdering her parents caused it. They didn't know the real story. Let me tell you the reality of what happened.

It was pouring down rain. Perfect. He sighed as he knocked on the door. Miss Marlett let him in very excitedly. He took of his soaking clothes, and sat down. Mr. Willames entered the room and the two chatted for a long time. And Emily. Oh Emily! She started tea. No one suspected anything. It was all going all as planned. He was just an old friend who came for a visit, a visit that would soon turn into a tragedy. Well, depending on how you looked at it. To him it was a great relief to get this whole thing done. He had been planning for a while.
Mr. Willames chatted for a while. Soon Miss Marlett went to sleep. She seemed exhausted. "Must of been a long day," he thought to himself. Finally, he decided the time was right.
Mr. Meripat said goodbye and "left". The Willames didn't realize he just hid behind a bush until fifteen minutes later.
Mr. Meripat heard Mr. Willames say to Miss Marlett to leave the kitchen door unlocked for the milkman before Miss Marlett went to bed. He creeped in through the door with only evil intentions in mind.
Angus gave Emily bait and she accepted it. They were both as guilty as the other.
Meripat quietly snuck into the dinning room which led into the living room. He reached the stairs and tiptoed up them, careful not to creak on the old loose wooden things that would only spoil his surprise.
Meripat silently opened the door to the couples bedroom where they were fast asleep.
He slit Emily's throat in her sleep because he still had a soft spot for the beautiful woman who he had once loved. Whom he had lived and would die for. Well it's her turn to die for him.
Meripat the took out his coil, with little thorns sticking out of it. He had made the rope himself.Gently, he wrapped the rope around Mr. Willames neck and quickly tightened it, double knotting it, triple knotting it, more than knotting it four times. His plan would not fail him!
Willames fell to the ground in pain and lack of air. He tried to loosen the rope but it only made his suffering worse. He grabbed Meripat's boot and pleaded for his life but Meripat's reply was merely," I couldn't untie it if I wanted to," and there laid the Willames couple. Dead.Meripat wrapped the two up in a blanket and brought them downstairs to the dinning room, to throw the police off track. He rolled up the blanket and escaped unnoticed.

Merripat laughed at Alice Cochen silently when he found out the news. Poor Alice! If only her insanity didn't give it all away! Maybe if she wasn't crazy then the Miss Marlett would have gotten convicted. But either way, truly no one had really figured out The Murder of the Willameses and it would remain a mystery forever. But after all, death is a mystery in itself that can never be solved.
