Authors Note: Sorry there was about a month where I didn't update at all, and you have no idea how bad I feel. During that time, though, I was still writing. My computer was really just being an ass. Anyway, I got a few chapters done and I'll be publishing them according to my usual writing schedule. I would publish them all in one day, but I didn't want to blow up your guys' phones or computers with 'TheLionSaysRawr has updated Chapter -----" But don't worry, Nation Assassination is not discontinued and will be getting back on track as of right now :) Thanks to all my dedicated readers who vote and comment :) Also soon I will be going back and editing/changing chapter names, and it would make me so happy if anyone has any ideas for any edits or a cool chapter name :) If your interested in helping me out then just leave a comment and I'll get back to you! Thanks!
Elliot scrambled to his feet as soon as the pain in his side faded. The side of his face was torn apart by rocks and dirt, and he couldn't see out of one of his eyes. His ribs were very probably broken, but nevertheless he rose to his feet and raced after the horses. Upon his arrival, one horse was bloody and lying on top of his rider, while one man lied unmoving in the dirt, his horse nowhere to be seen. There was one horse and rider still standing, the rider with his sword drawn and Max standing in front of him, a fierce look in his eyes. He had a small cut along his shoulder, but otherwise the big horse was unharmed.
Without shoes, his hooves were sharp and jagged, and with sheer force and determination trampling the last rider would prove to be no challenge, if Mercy we're not being used as a human shield.
"ELLIOT! GET THIS HORSE BACK!" The rider yelled, jerking Mercy in his hands.
Elliot nearly scurried to do as he was told, until Mercy's voice told him no.
"You don't serve them anymore... your free now." She said, blood dribbling from her lips.
"Shut up! Stupid girl!" The rider yelled, tossing Mercy onto the ground.
and that was his mistake. Without Mercy as a shield, there was nothing to stop Max from trampling him.
The Clydesdale leaped over Mercy and kicked out at the rider, who cut at the horse's legs with his sword.
The gashes opened up with Ravener poison, immediately becoming infected.
While in the ground, Mercy regained her balance her senses and rose to her feet, staggering over to the crushed rider and took up his sword.
"Max! Back!" She yelled at the horse, who heeded her and backed away from the rider.
"You hurt Elliot his whole life." She growled, dragging the blade along the ground, walking slowly towards the fallen rider, "You hurt my horse." She said drawing the blade to point at his throat, "AND YOU KILLED THE ONE I LOVED!" She screamed in a fit of rage, driving the poisoned blade through his throat and pinning him to the ground.
"You... You love me?" Jean grinned walking up, one arm around his stomach and one hanging limp at his side, obviously broken.
"Jean!" Mercy yelled, moving towards him as fast as she could, "What... what happened to you? You... I thought you were dead..." She said, tears falling down her cheeks.
"I thought I was too." He laughed, pulling Mercy into a sort of awkward hug.
"I love you so much..." He whispered into her ear, "And I swear... I'll never let those beasts get ahold of you again."
"Jean..." Mercy whispered.
He hummed.
"I think they poisoned me..." She said, before falling to her knees.
"But... But your immune!" Jean yelled.
"I told you." I said, walking forward, "There is no immunity to Ravener poison. There's only tolerance... and I think hers ran out when she was drugged."
"Dammit Elliot can't you fix her?" Jean yelled at me.
"Jean, the only way she'll pull out of it is if she has the will to."
