Last year I had a dance performance at school for our cultural evening. Me being the lead dancer had to come earlier than everyone else and set up everyone's costumes and make up.
I reached school at 6 pm as the show starts at 7:30. It was already dark and the only things that illuminated the school was the moon and the stars and a dim light shining through the window of our principal's office.
I start climbing the stairs of our main building which consisted of the main hall and the classes for senior school. The boarders stayed on the opposite side of our school and were not allowed to get out after 5 so the building was completely vacant.
I started walking through the dark hallway in order to get to the main light switches to the hall and the corridor which was in the far end of the building. I had only reached halfway when I felt a presence behind me. I quickly turn around thinking it was a member of our dance team who had come in early but in the little light from outside I could see enough and more of the corridor. But empty. It was only me standing in the hallway.
I shrugged it off and started to walk again, thinking it was a long corridor and my footsteps were echoing, just after a few steps I started hearing another set of footsteps which were out of sync with mine and I swiftly turn around. The footsteps stopped to. "Hello? Anyone here" I called out. Silence. I again start walking and again the footsteps begin. I keep walking and look over my shoulder. The footsteps stopped again and this time I kept walking and didn't turn around. As soon as the footsteps behind me began I stopped but didn't turn around.
But the this time the footsteps didn't stop.
My blood ran cold as I turn around and gasp as the footsteps stopped.
Nothing
Now I started running to the end of the hallway as fast as I could, panting I reach the end and switch on every light I could. Still no one in sight. I switch off the rest of the switches and slide down to the floor and hold my knees close to my chest. After I don't know how long one of my team member comes and helps me up.
After that I left the school dance team. And I never came to the school alone after the sun had set.
