5 - Brothers and Best Friends

Jack's PoV:

"Whaaaaaat?!?" Felix had his mouth hanging open, and I can't say I had anything else.
'Brothers? What?'
"Seriously, what happened? What did I miss while I was MIA? You guys are going to have to tell me everything."
Felix and I share a glance, but then Tom starts laughing, and pretty soon, we're all rolling on the floor in a fit of giggles. Once that passes, Tom says, "let's blow this popsicle stand."
We leave, heading out to the car. Felix drives, and I take shotgun so that Mark and Tom can sit together in the back and exchange stories.
At some point in the conversation, I start listening in and hear,
"-wait, so you're a beta?"
"Yeah, and Jack told me you're an Alpha. How's that been working out for you?"
"Eh, I'm used to it now. Taking charge is just my instict, how I was born. Still, It'll be a nice change for Felix to be the alpha instead of me again. Betas are like the assistant alphas, right?"
"Yeah. Help the alpha, or take charge if the alpha is gone or there isn't another alpha around."
Then I stop listening as I hear them start to talk about dog things, toys and such.
Seriously, who wants to know whether you prefer balls or bones?
We finally get back to the house, and find the door ajar. I look at Mark, and he looks at me. Tom just looks super surprised. Then he nods at Mark, who nods in return and starts walking slowly into the house. Tom follows Mark, and they walk into the kitchen. A loud squeek can be heard from the kitchen, and I jump involuntarily.
"Umm...you guys might wanna come in here" Mark says.
I venture into the kitchen and my eyes widen at the scene in front of me.
Mark's on one side of the kitchen, Tom's on the other, and cornered between them is a mausu.
She has brown hair and startling green eyes.
She was dirty, and painfully thin, her small circular mouse ears dirty, twitchy and droopy. Her long, silvery string-like tail is caked in mud. I could nust catch a glimpse at ehat seemed to be what was left of a collar. It read, 'DS'.
She looks from me to Mark to Tom, then to Felix.
I notice some food on the counter and-
"MY COOKIES!!!!!" I yell, and the girl's eyes go wide, then droop shut as she passes out. Mark runs forwards and catches her, and she lands in his arms with a soft thump.

Don't know if mausu is what they are actually called...if you know, tell me in the comments, and I'll change it. Either way, don't come up to me in five chapters and be all like, 'geez, man, why you gotta be all WRONG LIKE THAT!!!' because then I will go through the trouble of flying to your location, just to punch you in the face. Got it!?!?! Also, I just found a thing where senpai PricklyTrash told us her her name and what she looks like. By the way, senpai, stop downing yourself, youre beautiful from what I can tell. So own it, cuz the beauty and fabulousness is all yours, gurl. Imma use the features, but I don't want to use senpai's real name without her permission. So, instead of Vixen, I used DS, cuz she said that is one of her nicknames. Also...

Senpai...I know this might seem sudden since we only started talking a few days ago...but..I need to ask you something...
