"What the hell, Lavender?" Callisto screamed, her hands fisting chunks of her hair and pulling in frustration.

"What? Why does it bother you so much?!" Lavender yelled back, her throat raw.

Callisto let out a guttural groan, gripping the edge of the Astronomy Tower in an attempt to calm her anger.

"It's been a year, Lav! I expected you to be over him, not pin after him like a stupid little girl!" Callisto tensed as soon as those words left her mouth, knowing full well that she had fucked up.

"Really? Is that what you truly think of me?" Lavender whispered, biting the inside of her cheek and looking out at the partly cloudy night.

"Lav, no. I wasn't thinking. I didn't mean that, you know I didn't!" Callisto rushed, her expression one of pure regret as she tried to move closer to Lavender, who only jerked away and shook her head, not meeting Callisto's eyes.

''Thank you for letting me know that I'm just a charity case for you,'' Lavender spat out, ''The stupid little girl who cannot get over her crush.''

''Lavender-'' Callisto tried again, but the girl was already throwing the door that lead to the inside of the Astronomy Tower open and sprinting down the stairs, leaving Callisto alone at the top.

All the Aerglo girl wanted to do at that moment was scream. She truly hadn't meant those words; her big, fat mouth had just run off in the heat of the moment. But now there was no way to simply pick her words up and shove them down her throat. The only thing left to do was try to clean up this mess she had gotten herself into as best as she could.

It had been three long, agonizing days since Callisto had last seen or spoken to Lavender and all she wanted to do was plant herself on the comfiest couch at the Hufflepuff common room and never come out again. Instead of letting her do that, her roommates had all come together and decided that they would end this painful game of 'I Really Want To Talk To You, But I'm Supposed To Be Pissed Off' once and for all.

Their plan was simple. They had decided to band together with Lavender's roommates, who were also tired of seeing the Brown girl mope around and then deny there was anything wrong, and devised a way to set them up without either of them knowing.

All this chain of actions and reactions was what led to Callisto Aerglo and Lavender Brown standing awkwardly near the Black Lake, both wringing their hands and avoiding both physical and eye contact, until one of them decided to break the ice.

''I'm sorry,'' Callisto spoke up, her voice heavy with emotion and barely raised above a whisper.

This made Lavender finally turn her head to look at her freckled angel. She had to refrain herself from reaching up and pushing the pieces of hair that fell on her face behind her ear, reminding herself that she was still supposed to be pissed off.

''What I said...None of that was true. I don't believe you're stupid or a charity case. Truth is-'' Callisto cut herself off, reevaluating what her next words would be and realizing how all this - her friendship with Lavender - could go south just because of what she was going to say, ''Truth is, you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen. You're kind, you're brilliant, you're compassionate, and you're so happy all of the time. And I...''

Lavender tilted her head slightly to the right, looking at Callisto expectantly.

''You what, Calli?'' Lavender asked, compelling the girl to finish her sentence.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, Callisto released a breath she did not know she was holding and turned to look at Lavender so suddenly, it made the Brown girl jump in surprise. It's now or never, she told herself as she took a step toward Lavender.

''I...'' Callisto breathed, trailing off again and placing her hands gently on Lavender's face, internally sighing in relief as the golden-haired girl made no move to step away from her.

Gathering up all of her courage, Callisto surged forward, planting her lips on Lavender's soft ones, making the girl squeak in surprise before relaxing and wrapping her arms around Callisto's neck.

''I love you,'' The freckled girl whispered as they parted, pressing her forehead against Lavender's, who only giggled and mouthed the words back to her stargirl.
