It was a dark and stormy night. Chief Tui and his wife, Sina, were asleep; when they hear small cry of a baby. They ran to the shore, where on the back of an orca, was a basket, where the crying was coming. Sina stepped forward, but was stopped bu Tui. Tala made her way into the water. "Mother stop. That is a dangerous creature."
"That creature is an orca and in that basket is a baby." The orca swam up to Tala and showed her the basket. Tala takes out the child and smiled. "She was given to us by the gods. See look at this mark. They saw you were having a problem with baring a child. So they gave you a gift." She showed them the mark on the back of her neck. Tui took a hold of the child and smiled at Sina.
"Well what is the orca for then?" Tui asked.
"The orca is to that little girl as the ray is to me. The orca is her amakua."

"What are we going to name her?" Tui asks as Tala hands him the baby.
"Cassie." Tui looked at Sina and smiled. "After your sister."
Tala's POV
I watched as the two walked off. I turn around and look up at sky. "You have given our family a gift, but I'm sure it won't be the last. You will take her hand once she is of age?"
The stars formed into Maui's hook and it shined bright.
Third Person POV
Four years later, another baby had shown up. Another girl, who was carried on the back of a shark. She also bared the mark of the gods, on the back of her neck. Tui and Sina named her Aaliyah, after Sina's sister.
"Who will this one wed one day?" Tala would ask the sky. The stars made out the spear of Tu, the war god. Two years after Aaliyah showed, Sina finally bared their first own daughter, who they named Moana. Again Tala asked who Moana would wed and the stars replied with showing the spear of Oro.
**Fourteen Years Later**
Tui's POV
"Two more days and Cassie will be twenty." Sina smiled.
"Yeah." I reply plainly.
"What's wrong my love?"
"Cassie hasn't chosen a suitor."
"Okay and?"
"And if she doesn't find a suitor she will become the next chief, and as tradition a man must be chief. I don't what to do. The only other way is to force her to marry."
"But you know our daughter, Tui. She won't take kindly to that."
"She's not even my daughter, but she is the oldest."
