A three year old Isaac stood in the kitchen, glancing curiously at the jar of cookies on the table.
But, can I reach it? he thought, bringing a finger to his lips, which helped his intense thinking process. All he wanted was a cookie, just one. Every three year old wants a cookie if he sees a jar full of them so, it wasn't something uncommon to crave.
Isaac decided not to waste a second more and started to reach for the jar, which was unfortunately too high for him.. Still, he didn't give up.
After all, he had creativity and could already taste the cookie in his mouth.
After a few failed attempts to reach the jar, frustration crawled on the three-year-old's face. He started wondering if he should give up by now..
No! He said to himself with determination. The jar was in front of him! It would be foolish to give up.
After some more failed attempts, Isaac managed to brush the jar with the tip of his fingers. His face light up immediately, but he didn't exactly grab the jar, which caused it to lose its balance. In a second, the jar fell off the table and shattered on the ground, freeing the trapped cookies. Isaac, flinched and backed away a little. He hated loud noises since he was little. He was after all, a skittish child.
In the next second, Isaac could see his mother standing outside the kitchen.
Elsa Stark was, what people could call, a beautiful woman. She had soft facial features and she was slim, her body being very frail. She also had long, straight black hair which she never tied it up in a ponytail. Isaac took the hair colour from her.. and something else too.
''Isaac, what happened?'' She asked, and her voice wasn't alarmed or worried at all as it should be. She heard an object shattering on the ground and her son was in the similar room, unsupervised.. and her face didn't have even the slightest trace of concern.
Elsa didnt't know what was dangerous for quite some time now. Elsa didn't know what was right for her son either. She wasn't sure about the world she was living either, because she had two. The one where the notion of time didn't seem to exist, the one where everything was always bright.. and the reality.
''I-I am sorry mommy..'' Isaac said hesitantly, hiding her hands between his back and looking at her with pleasing eyes. He loved his mother. He didn't know at that time what kind of love his mother wanted from him..
A trace of frustration went over Elsa's face, but that wasn't because of the jar of cookies on the ground. Most certainly, Elsa didn't even notice it.
''I told you how you say thanks Isaac.'' She said in a firm tone, walking up to him. Isaac's eyes widened as if he just remembered something important, as Elsa lowered herself so, she and her son were at the same level.
Isaac's tiny palms cupped his mother's face. Elsa smiled as Isaac pressed his small lips against hers. Isaac didn't know that what he was doing was wrong. He wasn't feeling much because his mind wasn't comprehending the importance of his actions. He was only a child.
Elsa.. There was something wrong with Elsa since she was only a child. There was something wrong with Elsa's father too. And her mother..
Elsa didn't part her lips. There was no tongue. He is too little.. She thought, as Isaac's lips left her own.
''Mommy, are you mad at me?'' Isaac asked, with worry in his eyes. He knew that earlier, he did something he shouldn't be doing. He didn't want his mommy to be mad at him. He didn't want any person he cared about to be mad at him.. He was a good child.
