Wag's pov:

I have never really been the romantic type. Sure, I've gone on some pretty nice dates and stuff, but most of the time, I would rather be sitting on the couch watching an action movie by myself with some popcorn. Even though Tucker has Sonja, Tom has Jordan, Andor has Alyssa, and Steve has Martha, I have popcorn and Kevin, my pet chicken. From time to time, my wizard tower does get lonely, but I don't mind. I'll just have my friends over, or in a few minuets someone will need my help for some spell they don't understand. But here, in my scepter dimension, no one can follow me. It gets too lonely here, so I don't spend much time here, I prefer the outdoors any day. I often spend the night sleeping outdoors with my head under the stars. The only drawback to sleeping outside is the noise. Martha and Steve are always arguing, and there is always some kind of party at Sonja and Tucker's house.

Tucker and Sonja always invite me to their parties, I just never go. Parties never seemed, well, fun to me. I guess I don't want to be there when a drunk Tom and a drunk Guard Tom get into a fist fight. Someone Always gets hurt, physically or emotionally. Tucker says that I don't take risks, which is why I don't have a girlfriend. I say, that's okay, I don't want one. Then he pulls Sonja into a corner and makes out with her, while I walk away quickly. When I was little, I found magic strait forward, which is why I became a wizard. There are no risks, you know what's going to happen, you know the inputs and the outcome of the spell, pretty strait forward. Tucker also says that I don't have a girlfriend because I'm such a nerd. I agree.

Martha's pov:

When you've been dating someone since you were a teenager, and you are still not married, either your significant other is an ass, or you are. I have proposed to Stevie at least five times by now, but still no. The conversation usually goes like this.

"Stevie, honey, I have been dating you for six years, and a want to ask you something. will you-"

"Martha, I'm not going to marry you, we've gone over this before, I travel too much to have a family. I can barely afford you, let alone a family."

"What do you mean, afford me? I am NOT another painting, or vase, or something you buy!"

"What about everything I bought you? all your jewelry? Your clothes, your house? You can't live by yourself. You're just a girl. can't make a living if your life depended on it. You are lucky I am so good to you. Ya spend all your life, trying to become a mystic, instead of learning a real trade, like Sonja? Sonja's an adventurer, she earns a steady living, manning her own garden, selling far off minerals, herbs, you name it! She can make ANY crafting recipe, instead of some dumb spell. If you really love me, meet me in bed."

My mother, lady Ianite always asks why I do this to myself. I say,

"I do it because I love him."

She says "You don't love him, you love the idea of him."

"No, I love him. And he's right. I could never make a living by myself. I'm just a dumb mystic. I've wasted my life, every bit of it."

"No, my daughter, you have not. You have only wasted your time spent with him.

This is when I leave, crying. I won't let this happen again, Tonight, I will ask him to marry me, and he will say yes.

Wag's pov:

When I moved into the town, I was surprised at the amount of noise here. At night, I would never be able to sleep at all. But now, I am pretty used to it. I have grown to like the sounds of floating RVs, parties, fighting, and in general, the town. So when I hear Steve shouting at Martha, I shrug it off. Martha is a really good friend, and a good person too. She is sweet and considerate and kind, but thinks she and Steve are still teenagers, and hasn't realized just how abusive Steve is. Steve is not a good person, and anyone can see that, except for Martha. Poor Martha has proposed five times before, all to which he ignores, then compares her to his ex, then he says she can't break up with him, because she can't do anything on her own. Today is different, because Steve has had enough.
