Jaden's POV

"Catch me if can!", screams my twin sister Sarah before bursting into laughter. I run as fast as I can after her, however its nearly impossible to catch her. I chase her through the meadow by the creek and then pass the small sign that reads "Welcome to Slowtown." She keeps running all the way to the beautiful backyard of our small two-story home. Sitting on the back porch are our dads Tyler and Josh. Once they lay eyes on Sarah they stand up, smiling. "Did you guys enjoy your run?", asks Josh. "Haha. Jaden still can't catch me!", Sarah boasts. "Aye! Its not my fault that you're like a freaking lightning bolt!", I yell back. Everyone bursts into laughter. "Well anyways, we have guests coming over tonight so if you don't mind, please freshen up and what-not.", Tyler says brushing back his short brown hair with his fingers. "Sure thing Dad.", Sarah and I reply before slipping off our shoes and running upstairs to our rooms. I swing open the beautiful wooden door that exposes my bright green room. Everything is so properly placed and sometimes, I wonder if I could make it any more perfect.

Once inside, I shut the door behind me and head over to my closet, taking out a freshly ironed button-up shirt (green of course!) and a pair of khakis. I grab the clothes in one hand and my bathrobe in the other before walking into my bathroom. As quickly as possible, I take a shower, wash my hair, brush my teeth, and put on deodorant. I change into my clean clothes and slip on a pair of leather dress-shoes. Finally, I grab my favorite book off of my desk and begin to read. About 10 minutes pass and I hear a knock on my door. "Come in.", I say quietly. Sarah walks in and I stare at her in awe. "You haven't dressed this nicely since the party at the country club last year.", I tell her. "Well, these are special guests. I want to simply look my best.", she replies. I take a moment to glance at my sister's stunning sundress and luscious long brown hair. "I mean, they are just guests. Unless....", I look at her and laugh,"You like David don't you!" Sarah blushes and grabs a pillow off of my bed and throws it at me. "Shut up!", she giggles before playfully tackling me. We both burst out into laughter and continue to mess around until our Dads call us to come downstairs. Sarah and I race out of my room and down the stairs to where our Dads await.

"You both look stunning!", Tyler says with his radiant smile that always seems to light up the room. "Well thank you kind sir.", says Sarah in a British accent while taking a little bow. I laugh so hard that my stomach aches and almost choke while trying to catch my breath. "Haha be careful there Sarah...you almost killed your brother!", Josh says now laughing also. "Okay kiddos, how about you guys set the dinning room table? They will be here soon and I still need to make a few finishing touches to the meal.", Tyler says retying his apron. "Sure thing Dad...I will grab the plates and utensils, Sarah you grab the napkins and salt and pepper.", I say walking towards the kitchen. Sarah follows me and within almost 3 minutes we have finished and decide to light the candles on the table just because we are that extra. Sarah then goes to the living room and sits down to play her piano. Meanwhile I sit on the couch, waiting for the arrival of our guests.

Finally, after a long wait, the doorbell rings and I run to open the door. "Welcome!", I say politely as Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and their son David enter our house. Sarah continues to play so they go and sit on the couch, admiring her piano skills. Josh and Tyler soon walk down the hallway to greet them and eventually we all walk back to the dining room for dinner. We quickly devoured a well-cooked roast and stuffed our faces with pie afterwards. Our parents talk to each other while David, Sarah, and I go out back and play on our trampoline. "I think it's amazing that we are 17 years old and you still own a trampoline.", says David as we walk out the backdoor. "Well, in my opinion, you are never to old to enjoy bouncing around every once in a while.", Sarah says almost flirtatiously. "I guess you're somewhat right.", he replies to her. "Hey I'm gonna run up to my room and grab something, you guys have fun.", I say heading back into the house. I figured it would be best if I gave them some time alone seeing how Sarah likes him and all.

While upstairs I decide to see how things are going and look outside the window at the end of the hallway that just happens to look over the backyard. David and Sarah are jumping extremely high and it somewhat makes me nervous. However, all my worries go away when I see them joking around and suddenly David kisses her. I step back away from the window. I'm shook. It happened so quickly. I was extremely happy for her, however, a part of me feared that I would lose her. Sarah is like my best friend and I don't know what I would do without our afternoon runs and whatnot. I try to not think about the bad things and focus on the fact that I am happy for her. I lay down in my bed trying to convince myself that everything is going to be fine and after a while I slowly drift to sleep.

"Wake up you lazy sack of shit.", giggles Sarah, sitting on top of my stomach. "Jesus Christ!", I say waking up,"The fuck Sarah....get off of me." She frowns and gets up. "Why so grumpy?" I shrug. "I don't know. Just tired I guess." She quickly pulls her hair into a messy bun before laying next to me. "Well, guess what.", she says. "What?", I reply with an almost angry tone. "David asked me out tonight." I stare at her blankly. "Good for you." She turns and looks at me confused. "You're not happy for me Jaden?" "I guess I just feel like you're gonna start spending more time with him and leave me back here to rot." Sarah smacks my arm. "You seriously think I would do that to you? You're my twin. We have a connection that I could never experience with anyone else. I mean Jaden, you're basically my best friend." I sit up. "Look I'm sorry. Its just- I don't know. I might be slightly jealous that's all." She smiles and hugs me. "Look...I will never leave you. I promise. You're my partner in crime." I hug her back. "Just please let's always be happy like this. I'd be lost with out a wonderful sister like you." We continue to talk until we both fall asleep.
