Chapter 5: Noisy lunch-hours
“ You see, labels play a huge part in society. Even in the 1800’s. For example, old or widowed women back then were labelled as witches, or when different cultures and religions are not accepted by society because of one stupid mistake of the past, which still hasn’t changed yet. These days, you see them more because of how you look, and your style or personality. For instance, when you go into our school cafeteria, and you see all the different ‘cliques’, which can include the jocks, the nerds, the video game geeks, the gang leaders, the shy ones, the queens, the emo gang, and ones who just want to be on their own. The assignment you guys will be working on for the next 2 weeks has a lot to do with this.”
I was in english class listening to Mr. Hale talking about “labels”. I looked across the room. Most of the guys were on the verge of furious, while the girls ogling/mind-raping our english teacher.
Uggh.
Honestly, I don’t see what there is to like about a 23 year old who has a dream to teach a whole bunch of teens english.
Believe me when I say that every female (and some males) in this school thinks that Edward D. Hale is the most sexiest man who has ever stepped on earth.
Except me.
Sure, if I were an unmarried lady in her 20’s, then I would think he would be on the the sexiest guys on earth.
But I’m not.
“ Ms. Skye.”
I lost my train of thought.
“ Yes, Mr. Hale?”
“ Are you paying attention?”
“ Yes, yes I am.”
“ Really?”
I nodded.
“ Then what did I say, and I want close to exact wording.”
I cleared my throat.
