The Fight

It wasn't long until the sun began to set over the sky. After a day of practicing, I had mastered using the sword. I knew that the thief would strike before sundown and was simply biding their time until they struck. Even with the sword I felt nervous. What if this person beat me? They would have the stone and no one could stop them. I knew I mustn't think like that but I couldn't help it. I was suddenly distracted from my nervous pacing as I heard footsteps followed by a raspy voice, it came from someone hidden underneath a flowing black cloak. "I see you plan on fighting me, child. I see no point in violence, if you just give me the stone, your life will be spared.""Never!" I replied as forcefully as I could, though it didn't hide the light tremor as I spoke. "Fine," said the voice,"we will fight." The cloaked figure pulled out a sword and the battle began. At first I was unsure and had to jump back a few paces to avoid the blade, but then it was like a switch inside of me had been turned on. I charged and the cloaked man had to turn his sword to block me. I stopped myself and avoided his other attack. "You fight well, child, but not well enough." The raspy voice spoke again, the sound cutting through the air and filling my body with a cold sensation. I charged again, this time driving him back towards the forest. As the fight went on I succeeded in driving the cloaked figure further and further towards the dark forest. I was starting to lose feeling in my fingers from the cold when suddenly I fell. I had tripped over a tree root that lay on the ground and my attacker seized the opportunity. He stood over me with his blade pointed at my heart. My sword lay useless on the ground, too far away for me to grab. I started to panic as I looked into those two piercing blue eyes staring at me from underneath the hood. I was doomed, I knew I was, there was no way I was making my way out of this alive, but at least I could die knowing the stone was safe. "Give me the stone." The man said. "Give me the stone and I will let you live.""You'll have to kill me." I said with all the courage I could muster. "'Tis is your last chance, give me the stone, NOW.""No," was all I could say  before the man moved to slice the sword into my heart. All of a sudden a blinding light emitted from my necklace, creating a shield from the sword. As the blade touched the golden barrier at shattered into a million pieces. The man looked at me in horror. What was happening? The man took one last look at me and fled to the forest. All I could think about was the facts that I was alive. I was alive and I had the stone. The stone. I looked down and saw the Ruby shining brightly as if to say your welcome for saving you. I smiled and picked up my sword. I realised that the man would go looking for the other three stones. Then an idea hit me. He wouldn't get the stones is I got to them first. And so without a backwards glance I sped off to find the next three stones. Excited for this new adventure
