Missing Daddy

A loud noise woke you up. You sat up in your empty bed and glanced at your alarm clock. It was 3am. Was someone breaking in?

"Mommy!"

You let out a sigh of relief as you rolled out of bed and made your way down the hallway into Skylar's room. Your daughter sat up in her little bed as you opened the door. You sat on her bed and hugged her.

"Sky, what's wrong? Bad dream?"

She shook her head, showing her tear stained cheeks. "I miss Daddy."

Brendon had been on tour for a few months. He had Skyped the two of you every chance he got, but it obviously wasn't the same as seeing him in person.

"I know. I miss him too." was all you could say before you grabbed your phone opened your texts with Brendon.

(Y/N): Hey, baby. We really miss you. Skylar can't sleep because she misses you so much. I hope you're doing better than us.

A few moments later, your phone began to buzz. Brendon was calling.

"Hello?" you replied, putting the call on speaker.

Brendon smiled. "Hey, guys!"

Skylar cheered and waved even though he couldn't see it. "Daddy! I miss you so much!"

He chuckled. "I miss you too, kid. Can you get some sleep for your mommy please? She's very tired and she wants you to be awake for your surprise tomorrow."

Both of your heads perked up.

"Surprise? What is it? What is it?" Skylar replied.

"You'll have to wait. Get some sleep while you're at it. Okay?"

"Okay!" She giggled. "I love you!"

"I love you too, Skylar. Goodnight!"

You gave your daughter a peck on the cheek before going back to your bedroom with your phone.

"Brendon? What surprise are you talking about?"

He laughed. "I forgot to tell you! We're coming home to play a show! Since it's a Saturday, Skylar could come and watch!"

"Whoa! Hold on, Skylar!" you called out to her. The two of you had just arrived backstage and she had already taken off to search for her father. Dallon found her first.

"Uncle Dally!" Skylar gave him a big hug as he picked her up.

"Hey, Sky! Man, you're getting big! Soon you'll be taller than me!" He joked. You laughed as you made your way over to the two.

"Hey, Dallon! How have you been?" You hugged him.

He smiled. "I've been doing pretty well. How about you?"

"Same here." you replied. "Do you know where Brendon is?"

As if on cue, Brendon entered the room. Dallon set your daughter down and she sped off and tackled him. "Daddy!" She cheered, "Mommy and me are going to watch you sing!"

He hugged her tightly. "I know, Sky! I missed you so much!" He gave you a peck on the lips and got off the ground. Just then, Kenny grabbed his guitar and told the rest of the band that it was time to perform. Brendon gave the two of you one last hug and kiss before he went onstage and faced the crowd.

Pete called you about halfway into the concert. While you were talking to him, Skylar sat in a plastic chair and had her eyes glued onto the show. She occasionally looked back to see if you were looking at her or the show. When your back was turned, she snuck out of her chair and onto the stage.

Brendon had just finished singing Hallelujah when he felt a pair of tiny arms wrap around his leg. A ton of awws escaped from the crowd. Brendon grinned as he picked up his child and cuddled her.

"Hey everyone! You probably already know this, but this is my daughter, Skylar Urie!" Everyone cheered. "Skylar, do you want to say hi to the nice people?"

She remained silent and buried her head in his chest. He laughed and faced the crowd. "She says hi. She's just shy right now."

You didn't even notice that your daughter was gone, until Brendon said her name for the second time. "Pete, I'm going to call you back." You rushed onto the stage and took Skylar from your husband's arms.

"You're so brave, Sky." you told her once she was back in her chair. "I would've never had the guts to go up on stage like that."

She smiled. "Mommy, can I sing like Daddy when I grow up?"

You pulled her onto your lap. "Sky, you can do anything that you put your mind to. No matter what you do, Daddy and I will always support you."

(a/n): I would like to apologize for not updating sooner. I got back from DC on Monday I believe and I was no longer single on that same day. I'm going to see Wonder Woman for the first time with my boyfriend today so I'm pretty excited about that. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and your summer break if you have one! <3 ~Layla
