Alistars pov-

Alistar was cleaning up the garden out side of their house when she heard foot steeps running towards her.. Alistar frowned she didn't recognize him. He had messy black hair and panicked green eyes, he looked to be about 17. She lifted her head up so she could smell the air. The sweet sent that assaulted her nose reassured her that he was human. Alistar got up, worried for this stranger.

What happened to him?

She thought. He had cuts everywhere and he had blood on him. Vampire blood.  She hissed at the thought.

"Please!" He shouted at her. He fell but Alistar reached out to grab him before he hit the ground.

"What has happened to you?"

"Vampires!" He said pointing to where he came from. Alistar gasped as she saw two blond vampires racing towards them. Anger made her veins burn.

"Stop!" She shouted with venom. They did not stop so Alistar used her unnatural speed to catch up to them and knock them down. They quickly got up and gaped at her. She was clearly faster then them. "Who are you?" The said in union.

Alistar took a deep breath trying to calm herself. "I am Alistar Primrose Everdeen. The Riser, in training."  They looked at each other and then bowed.

"Oh, ma'am we are so sorry, we did not know this here boy was in your custody."

Alistar frowned, confused. "In custody?"

"Yes, this boy is from the Capitol, he escaped."

'So he is from the Capitol?' Thought Alistar numbly. She wonders why he is all the way out here in District 12.

"You had no right to treat him this way!" She suddenly shouted and the vampire boys flinched. Her hands glowed a radish color and they started to back away.

"He is from them! They all need to die!" Said the one on the left, for the first time speaking up.

Alistars temper flared and fire erupted from her hands, she held back enough to only scar them. They screamed in agony. And the front door to the house burst open and Striker came running out.

"What's going on?!" He yelled at her. Alistar quickly explained and rushed over to the capitol boys side. His eyes were closed. His breathing was so shallow it scared her.

For some reason, she felt a connection with this boy. She held back tears and bit her wrist and held it to his mouth. The crimson blood flowed into his mouth. It took a few minutes but slowly, the wounds on his body started to heal.

Alistar sighed. what's making me feel this way? She thought as she licked the wound on her wrist.

"These VRM's harmed this boy. Look! How crule!" She exclaimed as her mothers words suddenly came back to her.

"Alistar, hunny. Pay attention now!" Snapped her mother. She was teaching her some of the vampire's legends. This one bored her, it was about shadow bonds. Alistar asked her mother to repeat the lesson. She was scared she was going to ground her again and she would not be able to see her best friend for a long time. 7 year old Alistar listened to her more carefully.

"Okay, so for a shadow bond to happen the human has to be the vampires soul mate. For a shadow bond to take hold, the human has to be on the brink of death. The vampire gives blood to the human, but not enough to turn him or her, the blood brings back the humans soul, anchors them to there body and to the vampire. The vampire will be able to hear his or her soul mates thoughts. And feel what his or her is feeling. The human will feel this but to a lesser level.  Any questions?"

"No momma." Said Alistar distractedly. Soul Mates? Did she really believe that? What would it be like?

"What, mom, how would you know the human was your soul mate? What would it feel like?"

Her mom sighed. "It's said to feel wonderful. You'll know the moment you get close to them by how protective you feel of them. How much you want them in your life. Its like the world revolves around them."

Alistar pondered this and shook her head. She would not worry about this now. Alistar wondered if her dad was her moms soul mate.

"Mommy, is daddy your soul mate?"

"No hunny." Said her mom worriedly after a moment of hesitation. "But I love your dad very much. Nothing will change that."

The boys movement brought Alistar out of her memories. Hes my soul mate. She thought as she looked at him. Love filled her.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" She asked him smiling. He looked at her with his beautiful bright green eyes and smiled widely back. "Yes, I'm fine. Thanks to my soul mate."

 Striker gasped, "WHAT?!"

How does he know that? He is HUMAN!? Alistar thought ignoring her brother.  "Whats your name?" She asked the boy.

"My name is Shae."
