*O(+>'s POV*
I've got to be dreaming...right? It can't be Katherine standing right in front of me, she swore everyone she knows that I know also to secrecy to keep her location private. She had left me for nearly a month, and after one phone call she's right in front of me...I hope she isn't mad about that.
I can't help but stare at her, taking in her beauty as much as I can. Because I don't know if this may be the last time I get to embrace it, she sits down on the floor beside me. Looking at me, her expression is calming and soft. To be honest I thought it would be of anger or stress.
"I got your message." She says in a low whisper.
Gosh, it's so good to hear her voice. Not just over a phone or a video, but in person. I'm fighting the urge to pull her into my arms and hold her as she might not want that.
"You did, huh?" I ask.
"Mhm. So I came here so we can talk things out." She says.
I nod, rubbing my tired eyes. Katherine sighs while watching me, she leans over and wraps her arms around my neck, pulling me into a warm embrace. I smile and sigh, wrapping my arms around her waist, pulling her as close to me as I can. Burying my face into her neck, I can smell her perfume I always get her that she's currently wearing filling my nose. Being in her arms again makes me feel at home, I feel her fingers run through my hair which make me feel at ease.
Moments later she pulls away, sitting up straight and looking up at me. I do the same, giving her my full attention.
"I want to know everything. This time I don't want you to hide anything from me, I want to know the whole story about Mayte. And where this 'settlement' issue came from, and if you solved it yet." She says.
I nod, taking a deep breath before I begin.
I start from the very beginning of the story from the moment I met Mayte, when I asked her to join The New Power Generation, when we became a couple and when she left the band. Katherine sat there listening carefully to what I was saying, I have nothing to hide. I told her the reasoning behind mine and Mayte's relationship ending which resulted in her leaving the band...
"So...you two had a falling out? And she wanted a big fat cheque for leaving the band and splitting up?" She asks.
"Pretty much. And I told her I would, I was going to as well. But I'm a busy man, I get distracted by work and life. She did too, she was doing things. It took her a long while before she remembered she needed money..." I sigh.
Katherine nods, staring in a space. She then furrows her brows before looking at me.
"I still don't understand why you owe her money. She chose to leave the band, and I saw her home...it's probably worth more than the settlement anyway. So I think she's hiding something." She suggests.
"She likes to cause trouble. She didn't get her own way so she went after you...and she succeeded." I sigh, looking down at my hands.
I can feel Katherine staring at me, she takes my hands into hers. Causing me to look up at her.
"Did you give her the money?" She asks.
"Hell no." I frown.
She chuckles at my response, I laugh as well. It's nice to see her smile.
"Good, she clearly doesn't need it. If she wants money that bad she can get a job like everybody else." She says.
"Exactly, that's what I've been saying!" I exclaim.
