Chapter 12- to soft to kill

I opened the door and saw no one in the living room or kitchen. No one in their bedrooms. All of the bathroom doors were open so they weren't in there. They were no where to be found. I ran to my old room and looked at the clock. It read 5:23 am. 02/22/17.

"Today isn't anything special, so where could they be?" I thought to myself.
I thought really hard, suddenly I remembered something, at first I was worried that I was to late and that they were already gone but then I realized, that they weren't gone at all. I thought about a conversation mom and dad had had with us a few weeks before I went ' missing'.

"Ok, kids we have some big news" mom said clapping her hands together and smiling at my dad

We all sat around our parents as if we were extremely interested, well at least Ashely , Avery and Nicholas were interested. I wasn't really that intrigued.

" we are going to...drum roll please" my dad said and we all patted our laps and chuckled.

" the mountains !" They said in unison. Ashely and Avery jumped up and down in excitement.

" that's right guys from February 17th - February 22 we will be in the mountains!" Dad said with a huge smile.
The conversation continued with mom lecturing all of us about trying to get out school work done and how we can't miss any other days and stuff like that.

"Wait they are coming home today!" I said smiling. I jumped onto my bed with laughter. I looked around my room and everything looked the same. Nothing has been touched. My bed looked just like how I  had left it.

"They still went on the trip....without me.." I looked down

"Maybe they didn't miss me..maybe they didn't even notice I was gone...maybe coming here was a mistake...maybe I should just go back home.."

Back at the base in the other world.

"Come on Matilda! I can do the job way better then Oaklee can!"Joanne looked at Matilda excitedly trying to convince her that she should be the one to kill Hayln's family, not Oaklee.

"Joanne, you know it's too risky for you to do it, Oaklee is from the other base" Matilda looked at Joanne.

"But Matilda, I promise I'll be fine!"she did a puppy dog face.

"Why do you want to do this mission so badly anyways?!" Matilda questioned.

"I just haven't been on a mission in sooooo long. So please?"

"Joanne I just don't know if we can risk it..."she looked at Joanne's puppy dog eyes and her sweet looking face "don't give me that, Joanne" her lips poked out further " oh fine! Fine. You can do the mission. You'll have to go to the other base and tell Oaklee. I'll tell Romes that you took the mission instead" Matilda picked up the phone to call Nickolas Romes.

"NO WAIT!" Joanne yelled.

"What?!" Matilda replied.

"I..want to tell him myself. That way he will be more...proud of me..or at least he will seem more proud of me...yeah!"

"You don't need him to be proud of you, he's crazy."

"Just please!" Joanne was trying her hardest to convince her.

"I don't know..."

"Please!!!"

"Fine" Matilda finally gave in.

"Thank you so much!" She yelled and threw her arms around Matilda's neck and ran out of her room.

Joanne ran down the hall and out of the door where Matilda tried to take Halyn for training. Joanne went down 6 sets of stairs before she finally reached the exit door. She opened the door and walked out into the outside area. There was a table with a book. And some obstacles around the yard. Walls as tall as the building. Little chambers with different types of weather. Snowy. Rainy. Sunny. Windy. Things along those lines.

She ran past it and out into an area with dirt on the ground. Outside of a tall wall. On the outside of the wall was a tall bush wall which surrounded the whole building.
She looked around and she saw a scooter/ car looking thing. She jumped into it. She pressed a button and put it in drive.

Joanne drove down the dirt road and she saw something in the middle of the road she was driving down. She got out of the motorized vehicle and walked over to the object. It was a necklace. It was stunning. It has gold around the edges and silver writing in the center of it. It had a floral background.
"Well doesn't this look fancy" Joanne said out loud.

The writing read
"The one who promises
Must keep it
The one who gives pain
Must feel it
The one who loves
Must abuse it
The one who lets go
Must take it back
Accept the fate
And break the promise"

Joanne picked up the necklace and just stared at it for a moment. She re read the words many times.

"Pshhh I ain't accepting no fates today" Joanne said as she dropped the necklace on the ground and got back in the vehicle. She drove away as she did she ran over the necklace.

She drove a little further down the rode before she finally got to the other base. She knocked on the door.

"Who is it" a deep voice called out through the door.

"It's Joanne from base 1126"

"What do you need" the voice snapped back.

"I must speak to Oaklee"

"Come on in" the voice said and the door opened. Joanne walked in and went to the door of Oaklee's room. Joanne knocked on the door.

"Come in" she replied to the knock in a sing song voice.

Joanne opened the door and shut it behind me.

"Oh Joanne. Nice to see you again." She said without looking up. She was folding laundry and things of that sort.

"Good to see you too Oaklee. We need to talk."

"About what"once again not looking up.

"I was just wanted to let you know that instead of you taking on the elimination mission... I am" Joanne twiddled her thumbs.

"What?" She looked up from her pile of clothes. That were lying on her bed.
"You're kidding me right?"

"No, actually I'm not kidding. I'm being 100% serious " Joanne said looking directly at Oaklee still twiddling her thumbs.

Oaklee laughed.
"Yeah right. Why would they change their decision? You're to soft to kill Hayln's family" Oaklee stuck up her nose

"Yes. They changed their decision Oaklee. Just wanted to let you know so that way we didn't both show up to the mission. As well as so you didn't show up and just get in my way." Joanne said and she stormed out of the base. She got in the vehicle. And she drove away.
Joanne thought to herself " I'm not gonna tell Romes. I can't tell him or else If the job doesn't get done then I will be the one who gets punished for it not being done but since I'm not going to tell him, Oaklee will get in trouble, like she deserves" Joanne smiled evilly.
