Chapter 13- smile, kiss, don't get caught

"Be careful on your mission!!!" Matilda yelled as Joanne walked out of the door into the other world. She closes the door and she runs up the same path as Halyn did. Of course she wasn't as excited as Halyn was. At least not for the same reason. She had a duffle bag over her right shoulder.  She ran right past Halyn's home. She ran down many, many streets. Passing all the stop signs, being careful of any cars. Finally she reaches a house that's all by its self. It's a big house and looks very nice. The family that lives there has a car parked out side. Joanne doesn't recognize the car at first , she then realizes it's the grandmothers car. Joanne had been to this house as many times as you could. She ran to the side of the house. She looked through the window. There was a crib. The room was painted blue. There were bottles and diapers by the changing table. She unzips the duffle bag. Joanne try's to unlock the window. She quickly figures out that it's no use.
"I'll just have to use the front door"  she says aloud.

She pulls out a little bottle. It looks like pepper spray. It's used to knock people out and erase their memory. She walks to the front door and she knocks.

An old lady opens to the door.

"Can I help you?" The old lady says politely.

"Yes could you move to the left please?"

"Sure sweetheart," she smiles " wait why do I need to move to the le-" Joanne sprays her in the face with the memory spray. She falls onto the ground.

Joanne runs to the nursery. She grabs diapers,  bottles, formula, wipes, and some onesies. She stuffs them into the duffle bag. She grabs a pacifier and a little teddy bear. She runs over to the crib. She looks at the sleeping infant. She picks up the baby and holds him in her arms the baby begins to squirm.
"It's ok" she whispers " Mommy's got you Zane, Mommy's got you. In order for you to come home with me. I'm gonna have to do something to make sure that you are quite. This won't harm you. It's all going to be ok. " She talks to him in a sweet gentle motherly voice. She takes her hand and rubs the baby's forehead. She closes her eyes and begins to recite some words over and over again "ότι μπορείτε να το κάνετε" the baby falls into a deep sleep she puts the baby gently into the duffle bag. She handles the bag with care, as she leaves the house and for the remainder of the time. She slowly walks to Halyn's house making sure no harm comes to her sweet, innocent son, Zane.

At the same time

The door opens. Halyn's family all walks in holding their bags in their hands. They come in and set a few things on the floor and on the counter.

As soon as I heard the door open I jumped out of bed and bolted downstairs.
As I get to the bottom of the staircase I yell " MOM! DAD! IM HOME!"

"Halyn?!" My mother says as we run towards each other in a hug. Soon after, dad joins and then the whole family is just hugging in a circle.

"I love you so much" I cry on my moms shoulder.

"I love you too hunny but, where have you be- never mind, all that's important is that you are home " she squeezes me tighter.

We spend about an hour together. Just me and my family. It was the best hour I've had in a long time. I will try and hold on to the memory of this hour forever.

Everyone is giving me almost all the attention. We are all just in a circle in the living room. Even though I enjoyed that hour , I know I have to go back to the base

A single tear goes down my face as I reach into my pocket. I whisper "I'm sorry"

"For what sweethear-" before my Dad could finish his sentence I uncapped the spray bottle and sprayed him in the face. I went and sprayed the whole family. I knocked them out and when they wake up they won't remember that this happened at all, even though I will.

I walk out of the front door wishing I didn't have to go. I softly shut the door behind me then, I ran. I ran as fast as I could towards the door.

I quickly , but quietly opened and shut the door. I sneak to my room as quickly as possible. I walk into my room and I feel like I just concurred the world. "I mean no one caught me, seems like an accomplishment to me" I think to myself.

Someone knocks on my door. " it's me" a familiar voice said through the wall.

"come on in" I yelled as I sat on the bed.

Zeke walked into the room. He sat on the bed. My hand and his hands touched. I pulled my hand away a little.

Zeke looks at me in the eyes. " did you ever have a first kiss over in the other world"

"I-umm" I blush

"I'll take that as a no?" He said moving a little closer.

I shake my head yes quickly.

"You look nervous" he smiles a comforting smile "it's ok, trust me"

Some how that smile always makes all my worries melt away. I feel so comfortable and safe. I love his smile, it's my favorite thing about him.

Before I could even realize what I was doing my head turned and his did too. Then our lips touched. I was kissing him and I didn't even realize it. It was such a good kiss. I didn't want it to end. For a good long while it didn't. We ended up laying on the bed just kissing. I felt like there was something there, something special. His lips were so soft on mine. Zeke was my first kiss. "I hope I remember this moment forever. I just hope I remember this whole day.  " I thought to myself. That's all I thought though. All of my thoughts and my logical thinking had completely left my body.

Joanne finally makes it to Halyn's family's house. She knocks on the door, no one answers. She opens the door and when she walks inside she sees the whole family knocked out cold in the living room.

" w-who did this?" She said aloud.
She looked around making sure no one, besides the knocked out family was around.

" I better get out of here. I don't know how much more time I have until they wake up and I really don't want to have to knock them out again." She thought to herself as she walked out of the house and towards the base.

Joanne finally arrived
" how did the mission go?" Matilda said excitedly.
" it went great. The family is gone for good now" she lied although , Matilda couldn't tell a difference.
"Good I'm glad that's out of the way, why don't you go get some rest Im sure you are tired. "

Joanne shakes her head and smiles. She walks to Zeke's room. No one answers. Then she walks to Halyn's room. She knocks on the door but there is no answer.

I could kiss him all day. I never wanted this kiss to end. I guess my first kiss turned into more like a make out then a kiss I guess.

The door swings open. " Halyn I have to show you some- WHAT IS GOING ON HERE"
Joanne yells in anger.
Zeke quickly jumps off of me.
Zeke and I were so into the kiss we didn't even notice the knocks at the door. Looking back now I do remember hearing a knock.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!"
