DIFFICULT TIME

Omer was so nervous about meeting Defne and Emine that he couldn't sleep at night. He was walking back and forth and looking at the photo of his two girls hanging in his bedroom.At the photo shoot he couldn't take his eyes off Defne. The way she posed for the photos. She was able to depict the real depth of his projects. She knew exactly what Omer wanted to show by designing those shoes.During the break time Defne was always with Emine. They smiled and laughed at each other. Defne tickled Emine and their daughter laughed so hard that she nearly cried. Omer smiled to himself. He was watching Defne and Emine carefully. Defne was a really caring mother. She explained and showed everything to their daughter. She didn't get impatient even when Emine asked for the second or third time about the same thing. When the photo shoot ended Defne took Emine and kneeled down next to her.D: Emine my love I promised you that today you'll meet your daddy. Look- she pointed at Omer- this is Omer Iplikci. He's your dad.E: Mummy can we go to him now?D: Yes, we are going my love.She took her daughter's hand and both started to move towards Omer. When Defne was approaching him she felt stress. She was terrified because it was the first meeting between her daughter and Omer. Emine touched Omer's hand as he was standing back to her.E: Are you my daddy?- she asked when he looked at herO: Yes, it's me- he answered while kneeling down next to his little daughterSuddenly Emine hugged him tightly and saidE: I missed you daddyO: I missed you too- he reciprocated the hug. After a moment Emine took Omer's hand and turned to Defne. She smiled at her mother and reached Defne's hand, too. E: Mummy can we go home with daddy?D: yes, my love, we'll go home and you could play and talk with your daddyThe whole family left the place where the photo shoot was held. Defne gave Sukru Abi her home address. She didn't say a word during the trip. Omer and Emine were chatting. Emine was talking about her beautiful toys, dolls and teddy bears. E: You know daddy I have a dog. He is called Mavis.O: Really?E: Yes, we found him with mummy on the street. He didn't have home and he had neither mummy or daddy so I wanted to be his familyO; You are really caring my loveE; Mummy was always saying that we should help others when they need helpO; Your mummy is right, she's the wisest girl in the worldOmer realized that Emine is similar to Defne. They had the same attitude towards world and shared the same passion. When they got to Defne's house, Emine took Omer to her room, she showed him all her toys, drawings and chatted all the time. Omer played with her and Mavis. Defne didn't interact with them, she left them alone as it was too hard for her to be there. Deep inside she was fighting with her feelings for Omer. She knew that he really cared about her but she didn't want to give up. She was sure that if she joined them she wouldn't stop herself from falling under his spell. Emine and Omer spent some time playing together and in the late afternoon she was completely exhausted and fell asleep. Omer left her in the room and went to see Defne. She was in the kitchen drinking a cup of tea.D: How's Emine?O: She's sleeping now. Defne can we talk?D: I'm afraid we can't Omer.O: Defne please, I love youShe didn't respond to thatO: I'm so sorry I regret every single word I said that afternoon. I was drunk and I know that this isn't an excuse, but I'm sorry Defne I really am. I don't know what else I can sayD; Don't say anything I don't want to listen to youD: Defne please forgive meD: Forgive you? Omer I didn't deserve all of this. I loved you I truly loved you. I gave you everything I had, my heart, my soul and my body. And what did you do? The only thing that connects us is Emine. I've come back only because my daughter wanted to know you. I'll do anything for my princess, so you can visit her anytime you want, but remember you'll see her not me. Go now Omer I'm tired and I want to go to sleep now.Omer left without saying a word. He knew she was right. If only he had listened to her that afternoon, all of this wouldn't have happened. After he left Defne took off her mask of indifference. She threw herself onto the bed and started to cry. She pretended to be strong but deep inside she was very vulnerable. Emine enjoyed spending time with her dad.
