"Life doesn't give us purpose, We give life purpose." Flash
There was a time in life where we thought we were invincible. We call that childhood. Unfortunately childhood ends the second you turn eighteen and are paying taxes and bills.
The fun thing about childhood is that you create a foundation for who you want to be in life. Whether it's a career, goal or development of personality.
But here is the thing making mistakes is okay when you're five and you decided to put your action figures in the toilet and try to flush them. Or maybe you accidentally blew up the kitchen trying to make chocolate chip cookies.
You get the point. But as you get older the mistakes get worse and the punishment is harsh even though it was a mistake. Here's the thing I learned though, your mistakes don't define you: how you correct them is what defines you. In my case the mistake I made changed my life forever.
Hospitals, I hate them. Ever since I was a little kid I thought they were boring and the place makes me feeling uncomfortable. From the uncomfortable plastic chairs to the weird vending machines that dispenses room temperature pizza. Who knew I would end up in one.
The bright light of the room woke me and the fresh oxygen made my nose tingle. I slowly sat up and looking around the room. I was in a room with three other beds that held my friends. There were also two police officers and a lady dressed in an all-black suit. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun and her glasses fit her angular face. As if on cue my friends woke up.
"Glad you all are up we have a lot to discuss," The woman spoke sharply.
"Could one of those topics be why we ended up in here," Jason asked.
"All of your questions will be answered," The woman spoke. She rose from her seat in one of the plastic chairs. Her height made her look intimating. Her heels clinked on the floor as she walked to the center of the room, between mine and Thomas' bed.
"You are all here because Ms. Watson got into a car wreck due to drunk driving," The woman turned to make eye contact with all of us. My friends turned to me with wide eyes.
"Hey you said I could have fun," I glared.
"Yeah, but we didn't think you were serious," Jason said surprised.
"Well I was," I said cheekily. I started explaining what exactly happened. Chris looked dazed and Thomas's face was flushed. Jason was the only one that got a laugh out of the situation.
"By the way, Jason you're going to get a load out of this one," I say with a giggle, "Thomas and Chris got to first base in the back seat." That's when Jason started making kissy faces and embarrassing the hell out of the two. Of course I got my laughs to. Chris' face turned bright red and Thomas won't look at any of us. They got super drunk, I was just going to remind them of last night's events. Once mine and Jason's laughter died down the room was silent
Christine cleared her throat, "Before you start explaining everything, mind tell us who you are?"
"Oh course, my name is Rebecca Lopez, Agent Lopez, I work for the C.S.A," Agent Lopez stated.
"The what?" Jason asks.
"It stands for the Central Super-human Agency, I am of the director of Project Superhero," She spoke. We all gave her a dumbfounded look. She walked over to her bag and pulled out four files. She past them out to us. Each file had our names on it and on the inside had basic information on us. There was one blank left open, Powers-.
"Excuse me ma'am but why is there a powers category when none of us have powers," I ask.
"You will fill that out in the next couple of days," She replies.
"What?" Chris.
"In the car crash there was a leakage of Chemical X, a toxin. Since there was alcohol in all your systems, the chemical X was absorbed differently. Instead of entering just into the blood stream it went straight for the central nervous system. The chemicals fused with your spinal cord causing changes in your DNA causing you to develop a super gene. Your basic genetic makeup is changing as we speak, which could result in a number of things," She informed us. I stared at her, thinking if this lady has lost it or something.
"Your eye color can change, muscle density, height etc. You are most likely to develop powers."
"What kind of powers?" Jason asks.
"Anything really, flight, super speed, molecular reconstruction, power over the elements, adaptation of an animal trait." She says.
"So if you don't mind me asking what are you doing here?" Thomas asks.
"I'm here to help you 'cope' with this abilities and use them for the greater good. Project superhero helps teens and sometimes adults get settled with their powers and genetic changes. We assign the supers a place to protect."
"Wait so you're telling us that we are going to become a superhero team?" Jason says with a chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Lopez snaps.
"You think we believe anything that is coming out of your mouth. What is this the avengers? The Justice League? Oh! The freakin' fantastic four!" Jason laughs.
"This is a serious matter, I wouldn't have wasted my time on you if I didn't need you." Lopez says.
"Alright suppose we believe you, what would we do?" Thomas asked while eyeing Lopez.
"Your job would be to protect New York City."
"From what?"
"Obviously the bad guys," Chris says mockingly.
"The four of you would protect New York and work for the C.S.A. While neutralizing any threat that comes to the city. You will operate out of a headquarters in Manhattan, the choice to live there is completely optional. Training and skill assessment will take place there. You will inform me when your powers have developed and training will begin shortly after." Agent Lopez says sharply, she takes a deep breath, "I know this is a lot to take in but you need to be strong and smart. You will discharged from the hospital later today." Lopez straightens her jacket and grabs her bag.
"I will see you soon," She says as she walks out with the cops the door slamming it behind her.
"What the actual fuck," Chris says completely stunned.
