The once merry and jubilant crowd now sounded ominous and eerie.
With Thorin and the others gone no one seemed to want anything to do with us.

We returned back to the inn only to find ourselves turned away, we sought out refuge from The Master only to be told by his errand boy that he would not see us.

"We have to get Kíli some place where he can rest and be looked at properly." I said.

"Where should we go?" Fíli asked.

"After last night I'm not sure how he will react, but Bard is the only person I can think of." I admitted.

Fíli and Bofur supported Kíli while Oin, who volunteered to stay and look after Kíli followed closely behind.

We reached Bard's house and I knocked.

He opened it and with one look he stated his protest "No!" He said as he began to close the door "I'm done with dwarves, go away."

"No, no please good sir." I pleaded. "No one will help us, Kíli's sick." I stepped to the side to show him the state that Kíli is in, "he's very sick."

Bard begrudgingly allowed us in and he and his eldest daughter Sigrid readied a bed for Kíli. Once in place Kíli was finally allowed to rest.

I sat by his side and pressed a cool moist cloth to his forehead and hoped that his fever would break, his body is too hot, and even as an Elf (who's body does not react to illness or disease), even I knew that a high temperature meant that his body was filling with poison.

An entire day passed and the new day was winding down, as I sat here worried for Kíli I couldn't help but wonder what was happening at the mountain.

"They had to have made it in." I said to Bofur.

"What makes you so sure?" He asked softly.

"They would have come back already if they hadn't." I acknowledged aloud.

"Is it true?" Fíli asked with a smirk, "am I to call you aunt now?"

I laughed at his playfulness, I was glad to see a shadow of the old Fíli showing through even in the gravest of moments.

"Thorin and I did wed and I dare say nothing will change dear Fíli."

"Only that everything will change, you are a queen now." He insisted.

"I will always be just Maecel to you, to all of you." I said as I looked at each of them. "We have gone through so much to be anything else than friends and family."

Kíli began to groan and thrash about, Oin began to examine the wound and it was Bofur that determined that what Kíli needed was a special type of herb.

"Only Oin and I know what that is, I am quicker, I will seek it for you." Bofur stated before running out of Bards house.

With Bofur out and the sun down that scared and nervous knot in the pit of my stomach grew once more. Kíli looked as of he was on the brink of death and Fíli looked desperate to find a solution.

Then out of no where a great rumble shook Bard's house, we looked about each other to make sure everyone was alright.

"It's coming from the mountain." Bain, Bards son acknowledged.
