14. A Stronger Love (4/4)

It's been two weeks since I've been here. I feel like my visit is long overdue. I opened the door with Trey and Danasia following me. I saw Zonnique and Jacob laughing and talking about something on her phone. His eyes looked up at me but they moved back down to Niq's phone. She stood up and hugged me as the kids went over and talked to him. "I need to talk to you." I told Niq. The look on her face indicated that she knew something was up. She turned to Jacob and told him she'd be out for five minutes with me. He nodded and continued talking with the kids. We stepped outside and almost instantly, I broke down. She came in for a hug and I just embraced it. "What's the problem?" "They don't know if Craig will make it, and I just did something off the whim that I'm going to regret forever..." The tears didn't stop. They streamed down my face like a never-ending waterfall. "What did you do, Bre?" I liked into her eyes with so much pain and regret. "I was 2 weeks pregnant with his baby...and I aborted it."

She just stared me in my eyes for the longest time. I couldn't read her face and I didn't know what she was feeling until she hugged me. "I'm not upset or anything. I understand the struggle. What if he makes it?" "That's what I was afraid of. He's always wanted a child and to tell him I aborted what would've been his first...he'd never forgive me. Niq, I'm scared."

The door opened and Jacob was standing there. I walked over to him. "Jake, you can walk!" "Yeah. It's what happens when you leave for almost 3 weeks. But anyway, the kids are hungry." And with that, he slammed the door. I'm just really messing up around here. I turned to Zonnique and she just shrugged. "That boy is still in love with you. He's just a lil touched by what you and Craig had; that's all." She said while putting an arm around me. "Doesn't he know Prod and I aren't even a thing anymore?" I said while looking up at her. "He ended things with me when he transferred hospitals and didn't even have the decency to let me know." "Yeah, but you know Jake. He told me himself he still loves you, but he won't tell you that." I shook my head as we walked back in the room. Jacob and the kids were watching a movie on the TV. "Alright, cmon. Let's go get food." They both groaned and began walking towards me. "Bre," Jake said. I looked at him. "Will you be bringing them back?" He asked. I chuckled, although unamused.

I turned and walked out with the kids.
