-James's P.O.V- .
"Is he still not out of the house?" Zoey asked, looking between Nick and I. I glanced to my mate, then we both nodded. "Why?" she asked us as she stabbed her macaroni with her fork.
"We don't know. He won't answer and when we knocked on his door, he ignored us," Nick answered truthfully. I bit the inside of my cheek as I looked at Zoey. I had caught Colton sneaking into his kitchen to fetch some food four days ago and he was mumbling about not deserving the food for nearly being a murderer, so I kind of think he's just gone bonkers because of that incident at my lake house nearly 2 weeks ago.
"Erm... Maybe you should try and see him?" I suggested. Zoey looked at me for a second, looking quite lost.
"James, you didn't see him when I went to ask him if he was alright at the lake house. He looked scared of me, so if anything happens, then I'm just going to make him hide for even longer," she said. I sighed and took a bite of my food.
"I get that, but he's just... I don't think he's being too kind with himself because of what happened with you, you know," I said, not wanting to bring it back up, because that is honestly the scariest thing I've ever seen. She looked and felt like one of those white and grey marble stones.
"Huh? But he didn't know, none of you did," Nelly said, looking just as confused as her best friend.
"Yes, but I would've been pretty shaken up as well if I had nearly killed someone by kissing them. You know what they say, 'if you're capable of killing once, then you can easily do it again'. What I'm trying to say is that he's probably paranoid now, it's actually quite typical Colton," Nick said, sharing a glance with me. We both nodded in agreement, because he does become paranoid quite easily, especially when one of his emotions are running highwire. That is why Colton always keeps so calm, so that his emotions doesn't start off some kind of paranoia for something.
"Fine, I'll go on Sunday," Zoey said, earning a disapproving look from me and my mate.
"After school, today," I corrected her.
"I don't have any way to get there."
"Well then let's go!" Nick jumped up and went around the table, lifted the two girls out of their seats, then took their hands and walked out of there. Nelly and Zoey barely managed to grab their rucksacks before Nick dragged them along. I jogged to catch up with them and took Nelly's free hand. Nick gave me a weird look, but then released her left hand shortly after and jut held Zoey's.
When we got out we went to Nick's car. Zoey got in the passenger seat, so Nelly and I got in the back. I didn't let go of her hand though, because for some reason it seems more natural to hold her hand. I mean, it's nice to hold Zoey's, but I have this friendship feel with her. Nelly on the other hand randomly gets comfortable on my lap and she gives me a 'good morning' hug every day in school. It's kinda odd, but I'm not complaining, really.
In the car Nelly and I basically just used one seat. She had my hand in both of hers and it was laying on her lap. I looked at her as she fiddled with my hand, which was a lot bigger than hers tiny ones. Nelly then sighed and put her head on my shoulder and looked out the front window.
When we stopped outside Colton's house I opened the door and got out, then waited for Nelly to get out before I shut the door. Our hands had slipped from each other, but she curled her pinky with mine. I then walked in front of her and she followed with our pinkies hooked together. I couldn't find it in myself to shake her off. Zoey seemed to know where she was going until she stopped in the middle of the stairs to hear shouting and something crushing.
We all stopped and Nick was about to grab Zoey's hand to keep her in place, but she was already running in the direction.
"Crap," Nick muttered before running after her. I also began moving my feet and Nelly followed.
