Hyperactive news anchors,
Casting exaggerated expressions
Of fear like black magic spells.
Weather men waving hands dramatically, reading teleprompter
Apocalyptic post-it-notes to
Basement bound Floridians hunkered
Down like branch davidiens,
Water bottles and rosary beads tightly
Clutched in hands,"hurricane season is here" flickering HD screens haunted by
Devils with small waving hands
Causing dementia relapse
In hover-round bound grandmothers
Staring with vacant eyes at an empty
Medicine cabinet.
Shadows of the future creep along the wall dark prophesies signed with black
Bold signature as big as Mt.Denali
Recap of the recap of the spells cast,
"Start digging early" whispered silently
Between rehab and erectile disfunction
Commercials,but frail hands can dig
No more. Tired feet shaking with fear,
Heading down to the basement the whispers of doom trailing not far behind
"Hurricane season is near"
Fears of busted water pipes,
To scared to kneel with highlighted
Kjv bibles for fear of sinkholes
Swallowing you up in the south Florida
Twilight
"Hunker down"
Procrastination and madness
Swirl with thoughts of uninsured
Uncertainty sending a red-scare up
osteoporosis riddled spines.
"Hunker down bitch, hope you got your survival kit ready" the static whispers
Into darkness creeping down the steps
And stalking you down the hallway
As you go to switch the input,to a bright
Blue screen and shut the door,
To a pith black uncertain future.
