Chapter 3

Kaylee's POV

3 Years Later (Present Time)

"God Mikey you're so annoying!" I yelled, still laughing.

He had been banging on Ashton's drums and screaming random lyrics, from random songs, until Ashton had enough and chased him around, whacking him with a drum stick.

"But you love me!" He sang, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder.

"Michael Clifford, you put me down right now!" I shrieked, pounding my fists on his back.

"Whatever you say." He laughed, dropping me right on Ashton's lap. I got comfortable and just stayed there. " Awe look at them, aren't they so cute!" Michael cooed.

Ashton laughed and leaned in lightly pressing his lips to mine, I deepened the kiss slowly until I heard Calum exclaim "Oh come on Ash, do you really have to do that right in front of me. That is still my sister, you know!" We pulled back and laughed.

I looked over at Luke, who rolled his eyes and stood up. "I'm going to bed." He mumbled, before leaving the room.

The guys were all sleeping over at Luke's house tonight, so there were makeshift beds spread out across the living room. Michael flopped down on his and chuckled "What's his problem."

I sighed and stood up. "I'll go check on him." I said and headed towards the door.

Ashton grabbed my waist, pulled me back and buried his head in my shoulder. "No, don't leave me!" He whined.

I giggled "I'll be right back." With that I headed to Luke's room.

I opened the door, walked in and closed the door quietly. I just looked at him for a minute, lying on his bed. He had his hands behind his head and he had his lip ring between his teeth, the way I love. And may I just say, he looked gorgeous. No wait I can't say that. I'm dating Ashton, besides he will never see me as more then his best friend. I might as well just try and get over him now.

"Luke?" I whispered.

He looked up at me and sat up. "Hey, Penguin." He said, patting the empty space beside him.

I smiled at the nickname he gave me, two years ago and slid into the spot beside him. "Did I do something, Luke? You seemed upset." I said, tilting my head slightly to look at him.

"No, Penguin, you didn't do anything. It's just, are you in love with Ashton?" I was a little surprised by his question.

I looked at him and answered in the most truthful way I could "He's one of my closest friends, besides you of course, and it just, I don't know, felt right when he asked me out."

He looked at me then back at the ceiling and sighed "You didn't really answer my question."

"I don't know, Luke, I guess not." I confessed.

"Then why are you with him? Break up with him." He said, slowly.

"Luke..."

"No. I'm serious break up with him, be with somebody you're in love with, Kaylee. You deserve that."

"What if the guy I'm in love with, doesn't love me back?" I asked a little to harshly.

"Well then he's crazy. Any guy would be lucky to have you. And if this guy, whoever he may be, doesn't see that, then he is literally insane, Penguin." He said.

My heart beat quickly in my chest. I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it. He means any guy that's not him, cause I'm his best friend, and that's all I'll ever be.

Ashton's POV

I was sitting in the living room waiting for Kaylee to come back, when I got a text from her.

'Hey can u come to my room I have something important to talk to u about'

I quickly replied with a sure and headed to her room. When I got there and looked at her, it was obvious she had been crying and instantly I knew what was about to happen. I'd seen it coming since the beginning.

But I asked anyway "What's wrong, Kay?"

She looked at me with sad eyes and whispered "I think we should break up."

I smiled at her. "I know. I know you love Luke."

Her eyes immediately went wide and she asked "How did you know?"

I laughed "Calum and Mikey told me."

She scowled and shook her head "Of course they did."

"But hey we can still be friends. And I'm not saying that like everyone does when they break up with someone and then never talk to them again, I mean it. You're one of my best friends and I'm not gonna lose that because of a silly little break up." I said as I pulled her into a hug. "And I mean every word of that!"

She smiled "Thank you, Ashton." then she started crying into my chest and I pulled her closer. "Oh, Ash, what am I gonna do? He's never gonna feel the same way about me!"

I sighed and hugged her tighter. He loved her to I know he did, he's told me, but he would kill me if I told her. The way she was crying made me want to tell her so bad, but instead I said "You never know, Kaylee, you never know." and let her cry as long as she needed to.

Luke's POV

I looked down at my phone and saw I had a text from Kaylee.

'I broke up with Ash. we're still friends I guess that's good. I still don't know if the guy I like/love likes me back. how do I find out Luke?'

I sighed. I wanted to know who this guy was but I didn't want to help her get with another guy, it would hurt to much. It already hurt so bad when she was dating Ashton. I never understood why he did that, he knows how I feel about her.

I wasn't ready to be hurt again, so I just brushed her off.

'Idk. I can't help u. ask michael. I'm busy.'

To: Penguin <3 ;)

I guess I didn't have to be so rude. She quickly responded.

'Ok? sorry to bother u. I guess I'll ask him. see u later? if ur not to busy. I love u!'

No she doesn't.

'Kk whatever.'

If only she knew how much I loved her. If only I could man up and tell her. Oh my god, I'm such an ass hole.

'Kay, I'm sorry, I'm not busy anymore. Don't go to Mikey. come to my room. I'll help u figure out if this guy likes u. I love u 2!'

I'm gonna regret this.

'Kk be there soon. Pj party?'
