A Walk To Remember: The Proposal [One-Shot Fanfiction]

I was nervous about asking her about it, even though I already knew she was going to say yes. But what if she'll reject? What if she's not ready yet? I got worried, it started the day when we made up, thinking it was her final weeks or days to live on earth, the idea just popped up in my mind, I said to myself "Why not give it a try? I mean it is her last days on earth. I've decided to call her up, but this wan't easy for me. My mind was full of doubts, but I guess I have to do this.

 "Hello?"

"Jamie is this you?"

"Yeah it's me, Landon you're coming over later at two right?"

She replied, but something was wrong her voice…she sounded weak…like she was going to die in any minute from now. I realized I paused for a while due to her looking for me through the phone.

"Landon? Are you still there?"

"Oh sorry about that" I replied, then I continued "Well, that's what I was going to tell you about, I might go there around night time, I need to do something very important. I'm sorry", not to mention that the important thing was for her. We then bid each other our goodbyes.

I went to a jewelry shop to buy our rings, and this really beautiful pair of rings catches my eye and I thought to myself, well this would be perfect…well at least. After I bought the pair of rings, I got our names engraved in it. Since it was almost night time I decided to go home to rest then I'm going over to Jamie's.

When I rested I couldn't help but think about how I would say it to her. I practiced and practiced until I found the perfect way to say it, I couldn't help but remember the first time we met, the first time I actually talked to her, but in a way of hatred. Thinking I know her already, some tears went through my eyes some passed down my face, those that I haven't wiped off.

I went over to my car to visit her, as I promised. I reached her house, I showed her the telescope I made for her. She sat beside me and I put my arms around her. We were both silent. The sounds of our breathings could be heard. I love this girl so much.

"Jamie, it's time to look at it" I broke the silence.

"Ok" She said, with enthusiasm in her voice. But it still sounded weak.

As she looks in her telescope, I stare at her and wait for the right moment. "Come look" she said. I went there and looked at the star. I went back right away and sat. I think this is the perfect moment.

"Do you love me?"

"Yes" she nodded.

"Will you do something for me then?" I took a breath.

"Anything" she replied with a smile on her faced. She looks so angelic to me. This girl, I love her so much. I used to laugh at her, but now I smile at her.

"Will you… marry me?" Her eyes widened at that moment, the shock from my question could be seen in her eyes. Everything was silent for a moment. That moment seemed like an eternity to me.

"Yes." Tears started falling from her eyes. "Yes, I will Landon, Of course I will." She replied with a big smile and hugged me, I smiled back then I kissed her.

The wedding was planned on Saturday, we were getting ready to memorize our vows. Now it's the day before our Wedding.Jamie and I were nervous, but we overcame it.

It's now our wedding day, Jamie comes in with her perfect...everything. I was amazed because she looked like she wasn't even sick. She walked through the people in the crowd until  she reached me.

I mouthed "I love you" to her. She smiled at me, I'll miss that smile. She replied with "I love you too". We recited our vows. This is it...The kiss. It reminded me about our school play; the first time we kissed. Oh how I remembered those days, but this time, she'll be my wife. "You may now kiss the bride." The priest said. I smiled at her and she smiled back at me. Slowly, are faces were going near each other, until there was only an inch left. I felt our lips touching.

 Jamie and I had an amazing summer together, we had a lot of fun. It didn't last long, what I mean is that, she went. I remembered her exact last words: "Landon, always remember me no matter what. Always remember that I will always be with you, no matter what. I love you." A

I'm walking through our school hallway now. I've reached the cafeteria. Until now I still where my wedding ring, for that will always be a sign of how much I love her.

I remember what she said "Love…is like the wind, you can't see it but…you can feel it." I believe that its true. I suddenly feel the wind, I close my eyes and feel it. Tears suddenly roll down my face.

I'll love you Jamie, forever.
