See that girl?
She looks at me;
smile so bright,
eyes so empty.
I wave at her, she waves back
smile still intact.
I look into her eyes
and see her lies.
Her thoughts are vile;
she hides behind that smile.
As she realizes what I realize
slowly tears fill her eyes.
Through all this time
her sorrow felt like mine
and as her tears fall like rain
I'm the only one to see her pain.
Though around her people by the dozens
brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins;
but I do see
because that girl is me.
