Pre-school education is compulsory before entering primary school in Ouisia. Most kindergartens are available to children of ages 4, 5 and 6. There is no fixed rules for when a child needs to go for a kindergarten. However the majority will go to kindergarten when the child turns 5 years old. Why? Maybe 1 year is too less and 3 years are too many? Or maybe because 2 is in the middle of 1 and 3? Or the children are more... Well there are many reasons. They have their own reasons. And it doesn't matter, actually. The magic is, the majority starts at the age of 5. Coincidence? Maybe.
"Wait, you want to send your son to kindergarten at the age of 5? This is not your style." said Jayce.
"What do you mean by my style?" said Blish.
"Head start. You always want to win in the starting line. You also wanted your son to win at the starting line too like you said to me before that." said Jayce.
"Yes. However starting at the age of 4 doesn't feel right, for me at least." said Blish.
"Are you kidding me!" said Jayce while his voice shows that he is shocked.
"What's the problem?" asked Blish.
"You don't make decision according to your feeling or instinct, that doesn't sound like you." said Jayce.
"Well okay, actually the reason is that I feel starting at the age of 4 is too early." said Blish.
"Early? Some countries start at the age of 2, 2! And now you say at the age of 4 is early. Your son does a lot of thing earlier than most children, so why not send him to kindergarten earlier?" said Jayce.
"Okay, so first of all, if I sent him to kindergarten at the age of 4, he will lose the opportunity to learn from you." said Blish.
"Go on." said Jayce.
"Then, he may not win much, because kindergarten teaches in class, and you teach only 1 person." said Blish.
"Continue." says Jayce.
"Now I know your mind is asking a question: If that is the thing, why don't send him at the age of 6? Well, giving him 1 more year in the kindergarten helps. He will perform better if he has more experience." said Blish.
"I have nothing to say. You're a teacher and his father, I believe you make the best decision for your son." said Jayce.
"Thank you for respecting my decision." said Blish.
"So look like I can only meet him during the weekends?" said Jayce.
"True." said Blish.
They stood up and shook hands. That was 3 years ago. This special child named Jack, entered kindergarten at the age of 5. Wait, a special child follows the majority? Irony, isn't it?
On the car, Blish and Jack are having a talk.
"Do you like interview?" asks Blish.
"I don't know, haven't tried it before." says Jack while reading book.
"You will soon." says Blish.
They reached the kindergarten named "Gara Kindergarten". It is operated in a big double storey house. Blish registers at registration desk. He gives the receptionist Jack's birth certificate, document and files. Well those things are just about his family members' profiles. The receptionist returns the stuffs after she completed registering.
"Find a seat there and wait for your turn." says the receptionist while pointing at the waiting area.
"Thank you." says Blish.
"Dad, where are we going?" asks Jack.
"Well, just follow me." says Blish.
They find the seats and sit down. Jack proceeds to read book.
"Wow, you have a pretty obedient son." says the parent beside Blish.
"Thank you." says Blish.
"It is pretty surprising to see that you don't hold your son's hand but he still follows you." says the parent.
"Yes." says Blish.
"So he must be pretty smart. He even studies book!" says the parent.
"Yes, pretty." says Blish.
"What is your recipe to make your son obedient? Mine is pretty naughty and I hope he doesn't mess up during the interview." says the parent.
A screaming sound is heard from the interview room.
"Well, I expected the room to be sound proof." says Blish.
"Look like he.. Ugh." says the parent while covering her face.
"Well, have fun. I'm going to the toilet." says Blish.
Blish stands up and tells Jack to stay. He asks the receptionist for toilet. He goes to the toilet after receptionist told him where the toilet is.
"Let's hope that the 'pretty' parent leaves, with her child, of course." thinks Blish.
He leaves the toilet and goes towards the waiting area. He realise there is no Jack and only the book which Jack was reading on the chair.
